General Purpose of Job

As a Risk Management Actuary, you will be responsible for supporting the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) activities within the Group Protection division. This includes providing complex actuarial analysis and recommendations for his/her assigned area of responsibility. The focus of this role is to deliver insightful, value added, actionable risk analytics and governance to drive business results. Risk management areas of focus include pricing and product development governance, model governance, peer reviews and risk self-assessments. This role has a remote job option that can be performed anywhere in the United States except in Colorado. #LI-AE1

Duties and Responsibilities

Risk Management
• Assists in the development and upgrade of the quality of actuarial investigations and evaluation
of the financial well-being of the Group Protection Business.
• Assists in the development of risk/return pricing standards and risk management methodologies
based on actuarial and economic principles.
• Leads the oversight and review of new product strategies, development, design, pricing, and implementation.
• Provides leadership that supports the Corporate Actuarial Model Governance process.
• Leads efforts to encourage assumption setting transparency in pricing, valuation, financial and
risk management practices.
•    Leads peer reviews on actuarial models.  
•    Participates or leads workgroups by evaluating issues and opportunities of risk significance.
• Assist with the identification and management of risks and opportunities via a robust risk self-assessment
process.
• Partner with Corporate Actuarial to ensure aligned Group Protection and Corporate ERM
functions.

 

Relationship Management
• Maintains a network of internal and external strategic relationships to help achieve business
objectives
• Utilizes informal and formal channels to drive outcomes
• Develops creative and collaborative approaches to driving customer-focused solutions which also
benefit the company’s top and bottom lines
• Partners with leaders and peers within product development, pricing, valuation, finance within the
group protection business and corporate enterprise risk management.
• Articulates information in a way that can be interpreted and understood at all levels

Leadership
• Ensures area(s) of responsibility is meeting all objectives pertaining to quality, compliance,
regulations, productivity and customer service
• Keeps current in industry trends, issues and technology
• Plans strategies, anticipating what is ahead; prioritizes team and individual objectives based on
the enterprise’s vision, mission, values and goals
• Consistently generates innovative solutions and drives change initiatives that impact business
performance beyond one’s own area

Requirements

Education
• Undergraduate Degree or 4+ years of comparable work experience; education concentration in
Actuarial Sciences is preferred.
• ASA designation is required. FSA preferred.


Experience
• 5-7+ years of increasing financial, product and management experience that directly aligns with
the specific responsibilities for this position
• Experience and/or proficiency in pricing and/or ERM functions is preferred.
• Experience with Group non-medical products is preferred.
• A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations
• Possess a bias for action and avoids workplace distraction.
• Drives performance targets to completion.
