GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

The Sr. Consultant, Product Owner will be a critical member of Group Protection’s Digital Transformation team with significant influence on how Group Protection prioritizes investments in digital capabilities. Specifically, this role will drive the definition of our business strategy for how our organization should invest in and support digital information transfer with our Employer customers and other 3rd Party organizations (e.g. Benefit Technology firms). This includes identifying and driving technology enhancements to improve customer satisfaction and internal efficiency for processing Electronic Data File Interchange (EDI) files and building Application Program Interfaces (APIs). S/he will collaborate with other members of the Digital Transformation team, and stakeholders from across Group Protection and the entire Lincoln organization, to ensure alignment on strategic recommendations. As the Business Product Owner, s/he will then translate and convey the defined business strategy into technical requirements and tactics. S/he will define and prioritize the product backlog and set quality standards for delivery while ensuring that complex information technology solutions meet the needs, goals and objectives of the business.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides direction on complex assignments, projects, and/or initiatives to build and enhance the organization’s capabilities for transferring bulk information between third parties.
  • Translates and conveys the overall business vision into technical requirements and tactics for product development.
  • Provides a complex understanding of the business and product usage to contribute to the program vision and roadmap development.
  • Proposes solutions to stated business problems, assesses alternative solutions and identifies gaps based on knowledge of the product and how clients use the product.
  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for how information can be transferred between third parties, assesses the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.
  • Partner with customer facing and research roles to understand current and emerging customer needs and incorporate these insights into strategic recommendations
  • Directs, advises and collaborates with internal and/or external stakeholders to determine Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and goals for complex product offering(s).
  • Serves as key decision maker on priorities of product backlog and works to ensure that all stakeholders are aligned at each stage of the development lifecycle.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders and/or management to gather and support prioritization of complex product requirements, providing recommendations, as appropriate.
  • Leads requirements gathering effort on epics and documents story details based on the epics, working with business and IT stakeholders to ensure alignment.
  • Provides direction and collaborates effectively with appropriate stakeholders on complex issues and conflicts that impact time, cost, scope, quality and risk of assigned projects.
  • Manages dependencies in and across sprints and releases.
  • Provides subject matter expertise to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects related to EDI- and API-related technologies
     

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) (Minimum Required)
  • 5 – 7+ Years of experience in Business Analysis, Project Management, or a product-related role within a development team that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position. (Required)

  • Travel Amount: up to 25%
