The Role at a Glance
We are excited to bring on an AVP of Group Benefits Claims - Short Term Disability & Leave - to join our Group Protection Claims team in a remote or hybrid environment, depending on your proximity to one of our key cities.
Background Details
As a leader in the Group Protection Claims Organization, you will provide operational leadership, customer engagement, and strategic execution.
You will be responsible for the overall leadership and direction of an STD and Leave organization as well as partnering collectively to ensure successful service outcomes for the broader organization. You will contribute to developing strategies that have substantial impact on the success of the claims organization & enhance the customer experience.
What you'll be doing
- You will develop & execute strategic initiatives which have substantial impact on the success of the organization and enhance the customer experience. In addition, you will anticipate & provide strategies/solutions to complex problems or trends.
- You will maintain knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends, identify opportunities and implement industry leading best practices & strategies to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency.
- You will develop, maintain & analyze appropriate metrics & control mechanisms including using data & analysis to improve business results by targeting opportunities & process improvements.
- You will direct and enhance organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting transformational change management.
- You will identify and direct strategic process improvements that drive efficiency and improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit.
- You will develop & maintain close customer ties, articulates customer needs, keep priorities in focus with the desires and expectations of the customer.
- You will approve & make complex management-related financial decisions consistent with company guidelines.
- You will direct the processing and administration of all aspects of claims for STD & Leaves ensuring accurate & timely claim management.
- You will ensure claims processing is consistent with applicable policies, procedures & department guidelines.
- You will collaborate with internal &/or external stakeholders to ensure effective delivery service.
- You will develop, manage & oversee the budget for your organization.
What we’re looking for
Must-have experience (Required):
- 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)
- 10+ Years Experience in Claims that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position, including 3+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience including influencing senior management/critical stakeholders experience.
- Demonstrate strong transformational leadership skills including critical ability to develop and execute operational change impacting people, process, and technology.
- Ability to think critically, analyze information, evaluate the implications of a course of action or solution, and to make decisions under pressure.
- Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal/external stakeholders with proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches.
- Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-have experience (Preferred):
- Previous STD and Leave product knowledge and leadership.
- Experience in small and regional group insurance markets
Travel Requirements
- Travel Type: Regional Domestic
- Travel Amount: up to 25%

The pay range for this position is $127,500 - $232,300 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
