The Role

As the Service Processor II, Accounts Payable, you will perform and deliver on routine and non-routine assignments for Lincoln’s Life Solutions business independently in accordance with established procedures & guidelines.  You will prepare, record, verify, analyze and report on increasingly complex account transactions ensuring efficient, accurate, and timely processing of all transactions, payments, and reports in accordance with corporate & departmental policies and procedures.

    • Delivers routine work independently, in accordance with established procedures and guidelines, in a timely manner and meets deadlines appropriately.
    • Makes routine and non-routine decisions, applying limited but increasingly more discretion within role except for matters of significance which affect the business as a whole or a significant part of it, in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
    • Applies expanded knowledge obtained from the role in increasingly more complex situations and continues to acquire more knowledge to apply in role.
    • Provides a diverse range of information and performs a diverse range of tasks/transactions related to common programs and services.
    • Reviews and processes increasingly complex invoices for payment on a timely basis according to corporate and/or departmental policies and procedures.
    • Resolves account increasingly complex discrepancies by investigating documentation and determining applicable adjustments.
    • Prepares increasingly complex financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing transaction information and trends.
    • Verifies accounts by reconciling increasingly complex statements, accounts and/or transactions for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
    • Identifies and researches increasingly complex discrepancies or out of balance situations amongst assigned accounts.
    • Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying, posting and correcting assigned transactions.
    • Escalates account issues to appropriate stakeholders and/or management.
    • Reviews information for completeness and gathers pertinent information from others as needed.
    • Tracks and coordinates the process and transactional details. Communicates effectively with applicable internal/ external stakeholders with regards to increasingly complex discrepancies.
    • Prepare and deliver customer billing and respond to resulting queries.
    • Trains and informally mentors team members and internal stakeholders.


  • High School Diploma or GED (Minimum Required)
  • 2 - 3 Years of Accounts Payable and/or general accounting experience that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position (Required)
  • Extensive experience in Underwriting & New Business LifeWriter System preferred
  • Knowledgeable in AWD (Automated Work Distribution) System preferred
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Works with mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, averages and/or variances.
  • Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Demonstrates ability to evaluate information and the implications of a course of action or solution.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements.
  • Demonstrates ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative style.
  • Demonstrates solid relationship management skills with internal and/or external clients (e.g. management, peers, colleagues, customers, etc.).
