The Role at a Glance

As an Actuarial Specialist, Group Protection Pricing, you will support key pricing initiatives for Group Disability products (including Long Term Disability or Short Term Disability, Absence Management, and Statutory Paid Leave and Disability plans).

What you'll be doing

  • Collaborating across Pricing, Product, Finance, Underwriting, and IT to develop and maintain pricing formulas in our pricing tools and systems.
  • Performing various experience analysis and product deep dives and communicating the results to internal audiences.
  • Leveraging the results of experience studies to develop assumptions for use in rating formula development.
  • Maintaining knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends in disability products, assessing the impact, and collaborating to incorporate in our pricing formulas.
  • Assisting with product development initiatives, underwriting requests, and rate filings.
  • Ensuring proper documentation of analysis and assumptions.
  • Finding and implementing ways to enhance more complex models and processes to generate greater accuracy and efficiency.
  • Organizing findings in a clear, systematic fashion and presenting recommendations to various levels of management and other stakeholders.
  • Serving as a resource to team members and internal/external stakeholders on pricing of products under your area of responsibility.

What we're looking for

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Actuarial Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or other quantitative major (Minimum Required)
  • Upon Hire Certifications/Licensures: (3-6 Actuarial Exams passed.)
  • 1 - 3+ Years of experience in actuarial science that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position (Required)
  • Experience with group insurance pricing/valuation/analytics preferred
  • Curiosity and demonstrated capability to quickly learn new concepts
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to think critically, identify potential challenges, discuss solutions, and validate results
  • Work with a sense of urgency while maintaining appropriate attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective verbal and written communication
