The Role at a Glance

We are excited to bring on a Financial Services Payments Manager on our Payment Services team to join our Group Protection Shared Services Team supporting Workplace Solutions in our Omaha, NE; Atlanta, GA; Dover, NH; or Charlotte, NC offices.

 

Background Details
The Group Protection Operations Team will help you grow your group benefits knowledge and establish strong partnerships (internally/externally) while working in this fast-paced environment. 

 

As a Financial Services Payments Manager, you will be working collaboratively with other business units and departments to support financial business needs for the Group Protection Claims organization. Responsible for overseeing the calculation and ongoing financial management of payments for Long Term disability claims. Develops, manages, and coaches staff and Payments department to support financial objectives.

What you’ll be doing

  • Serves as a subject matter expert to team members and internal/external stakeholders, provides feedback, coaching, training, guidance, and development opportunities, including stretch assignments for the Payments department.  Evaluates performance and provides honest and open feedback for growth improvements.  Defines objectives and ensures alignment with project and unit objectives.
  • Responsible for oversight to ensure accuracy of calculation and timely payments for long term disability payments.
  • Responsible to ensure department follows all OFAC and attestation guidelines. Works directly with the Financial Services, Claim Resolution Services and SIU Officer and collaborates with the Senior Business Analyst to ensure efficient processes are in place and documented to implement proper financial controls. 
  • Participates and/or manages cross functional/departmental projects.  Defines scope and ensures appropriate resources are reserved. 
  • Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Identifies and directs the implementation of process improvements that significantly reduces workloads or improves quality across the department for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Directs and evaluates individual/team performance and takes appropriate action to meet and/or exceed performance standards for assigned area(s) of responsibility. Ensures consistency across the department to provide a high level of customer service and to maintain the integrity of data necessary for reporting.
  • Establishes and implements priorities, performance goals and objectives to ensure group results for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Directs and provides leadership to continually improve the capability and results for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Ensures that top talent is hired and retained for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Develops, maintains, and analyzes appropriate metrics and control mechanisms for payment services including using data and analysis to improve business results by targeting opportunities and process improvements within financial services.
  • Approves and makes complex claim management related financial decisions consistent with company guidelines for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Reviews and resolves complex escalated issues and concerns for assigned area(s) of responsibilities.
  • Collaborates with internal and/or external stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery. 
  • Ensures regular quality audits of assigned area(s) of responsibility.

What we’re looking for

Must-have experience (Required):

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) in Business or Finance (Minimum Required)
  • 3+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience
  • Broad knowledge of disability products, and knowledge of insurance claims issues, policies, procedures as well as financial principles for managing financial liability. Financial and/or claims experience preferred.  


Nice-to have Experience (Preferred): 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment with the ability to adapt as needed.
  • Ability to work in various excel documents with a high comfort level of mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, averages and/or variances.
  • Ability to articulate/alter provisions – comfortable with contract language.
