The Role at a Glance

Our Group Protection IT team is growing and we are bringing on a Senior Solutions Architect help with of our technical transformation within this organization.  This opportunity is available to work from home, or in our Dover, NH or Omaha, NE locations.

Background Details:  

As Lincoln continues in its technology transformation, our Group Protection IT team has been leading the way. This opportunity for a senior level application architect, will help with the design and implementation of the platforms many of our GP solutions are built on.  This particular team is federated directly to Group Protection IT and will create the enablement tools for other software engineers to build the solutions they need.  You’ll have the opportunity to work with other architects as they create the standard for how solutions are built across all of Group Protection IT.  If this sounds like you, read on!

What you'll be doing:

  • You’re going to partner and provide leadership to multiple agile teams of experienced software engineers, helping enable the teams to move forward with full DevSecOps capabilities in a cloud first environment
  • You’ll have tremendous responsibility of influencing and driving a strategic technical roadmap, including elimination of redundancy of applications, reducing technical risks/debt, and building the technical foundation for years to come
  • You will have the opportunity to architect and re-architect applications in an Event-Driven/Service Oriented/Cloud environment.
  • Be on the leading edge of the development of applications as Lincoln moves forward in it’s Cloud Transformation with AWS.
  • Maintain knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesse the impact, and collaborate with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.  

What we're looking for:


  • 8+ years of large scale software development or application engineering with recent coding experience in two or more modern programing languages and frameworks such as: Java, JavaScript, C/C++, C#, React, Angular, Node.js, Python
  • 5+ years architecting, designing, and developing applications on the AWS platform
  • Designing and building application using container and serverless technologies
  • Experience architecting highly available systems that utilize load balancing, horizontal scalability and high availability
  • Experience with application integration, APIs, and Event-Driven architecture patterns
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies and DevOps practices such as Infrastructure as Code, Continuous Integration, and automated deployments
  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology or Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience 


  • AWS Cloud certifications
  • Experience leading teams with full AWS development lifecycle delivery, including Infrastructure Provisioning, Automation and Security
  • Proven ability to collaborate with internal teams, business partners and stakeholders, instilling a collaborative transparent culture that allows the team to be successful and ensures work aligns with strategic and tactical goals.
