General Purpose of Job

This position will perform and deliver on routine and non-routine assignments for their assigned area(s) of responsibility independently in accordance with established procedures/guidelines. They will manage the calculation and issuance of increasingly complex claims payments for their assigned area(s). They will process increasingly complex claims payments in an accurate, compliant and timely manner.

Duties and Responsibilities

Accurately and clearly captures payment status, actions taken, and decisions made.
Adheres to customer-specific synchronization/batching dates and/or performance guarantees to ensure timely and accurate payments.
Adheres to financial controls under Sarbanes-Oxley, corporate compliance, and GAAP.
Applies expanded knowledge obtained from the role in increasingly more complex situations and continues to acquire more knowledge to apply in role.
Calculates and issues short and/or long-term increasingly complex disability payments, using knowledge of policy/contract provisions, calculation modes, benefit offset options, and work earnings.
Collaborates with cross-functional team to structure, shape, and provide input to departmental/operations plans.
Communicates via email or by phone with employers and/or claimants to gain financial data and other information needed to determine and calculate benefits.
Delivers routine work independently, in accordance with established procedures and guidelines, in a timely manner and meets deadlines appropriately.
Effectively communicates and leverages customer service skills to obtain information and convey decisions to a variety of audiences clearly, succinctly, and diplomatically.
Establishes follow-up tasks for claims examiners for claims that require ongoing payment adjustments or oversight.
Establishes increasingly complex payments in system, documents claim accurately and comprehensively, and updates/maintains payment tracking system with key dates and outcomes.
Gathers and reviews information needed for decisions from multiple sources, including: claim case managers, claimants, vendors and customer contacts.
Identifies and acts upon claims with potential for benefit offset based on other income sources.
Makes routine & non-routine decisions, applying limited but increasingly more discretion within role except for matters of significance which affect the business as a whole or a significant part of it, in accordance with established procedures & guidelines
Manages multiple priorities and tasks for a large caseload.
Meets or exceeds departmental quality and service standards.
Partners with internal and external resources to identify risks and opportunities.
Provides a diverse range of information and performs a diverse range of tasks/transactions related to common programs and services.
Reviews and communicates defined salary variances (weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly) with internal/external business partners.
Reviews and validates eligibility files against employee earning reports to streamline benefits.
Reviews payments to determine if an increasingly complex tax calculation is needed to ensure correct federal/state taxes are withheld.
Supports and promotes change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Works overtime as needed.

High School or GED - Minimum Required



2 - 3 Years of progressive experience in a financial services environment, such as payroll services, directly aligned to the specific responsibilities for this position (Required )


Work Arrangement:

Hybrid/Home : Employees will work from home generally three days each week and come into a Lincoln office on a schedule their manager will help set, following any applicable in-office training period determined by their manager.
