The Role at a Glance:

This position will provide a great opportunity to gain an understanding of annuity products and the financial projection modeling process here at Lincoln. The Associate Actuary in this position will assist in the modeling of annuity products and be exposed to a variety of modeling exercises including Asset/Liability Management, Economic Capital, C3-Phase I, and annual Reserve and Asset Adequacy Testing (RAAT). Modeling exercises are completed regularly throughout the year and will be balanced with the opportunity to assist in ad hoc requests.

What you'll be doing:

  • Prepare liability in-force files needed for various modeling exercises 
  • Update and validate a variety of annuity models for modeling exercises throughout the year, including Asset/Liability Management, Economic Capital, C3-Phase I, and Annual Reserve and Asset Adequacy Analysis
  • Assist in analyzing and interpreting output from the models 
  • Responsible for maintenance of annuity models, including implementation of new products/features 
  • Aid in preparation of Actuarial Memorandums 
  • Perform various ad hoc modeling requests 
  • Maintain documentation for all projects 
  • Partner and collaborate with other functional areas of the company to identify and share modeling best practices with an eye towards efficiency and process improvement opportunities

What we're looking for:

Must-have:

  • 3-6+ years of actuarial experience
  • At least 7 Actuarial Exams passed; typically has ASA designation
  • Experience with annuity products, particularly variable annuity with guaranteed benefits
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Curiosity and demonstrated capability to quickly learn new concepts
  • Self-starter, innovative, problem solver
  • Ability to think critically, identify, and solve potential challenges
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Priority setting, time management, and organizational skills
  • Technical, programming, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently

Nice-to-have:

  • Actuarial modeling and/or valuation experience, preferably in MG-ALFA (or comparable actuarial modeling software)
  • Experience with data analytics and visualization tools (e.g. – Dataiku, Tableau)
  • Familiarity with modern data science approaches
