The Role at a Glance:

Our Annuity IT Data & Analytics team is growing, and we are hiring a Senior Application Architect to help with our technology transformation within this organization.
Background Details: 
As Lincoln continues in its technology transformation, our Annuity IT team has been leading the way. This opportunity for a senior level solution architect, will be responsible for providing architectural oversight, governance, and technical leadership for our Big Data and Cloud platform for the Annuities IT organization

What you'll be doing:

  • You’re going to partner with the Annuities business, Enterprise Architecture, Application Development (Build), Maintenance and Support (Run), Managed Service Providers and Infrastructure teams on the development of solutions to achieve Business and IT strategies and goals associated with Quarterly Product Releases, Projects, Minor Enhancements and Support initiatives.
  • You will also be responsible for many aspects of architecture and technology delivery and oversight related to application development activities (e.g., solution proposals, architectural decisions, macro and micro designs, build/construction activities) and will partner with the Annuities IT leadership team to deliver quality solutions for the Annuities organization.
  • You’ll have tremendous responsibility of developing and driving a strategic technical roadmap, including elimination strategies for new solutions, reducing technical risks/debt, and building the technical foundation for years to come
  • You will have the opportunity to architect and re-architect applications in an Event-Driven/Service Oriented/Cloud environment.
  • Be on the leading edge of the development of applications as Lincoln moves forward in its Cloud Transformation. 


What we're looking for:


  • 8+ years professional application development experience with 4+ years’ experience architecting, designing, and developing applications related to operational data stores, data warehouses & data marts with experience in data acquisition, modeling, extraction, transformation, and loading directly aligned to the specific responsibilities for this role 
  • Demonstrated experience with AWS Cloud, Hadoop, ETL development, BI Tools and Data Modeling experience required
  • Experience with applying software design/development practices, tools, and languages on a diverse set of platforms including mainframe (e.g., CICS, COBOL, DB2) and distributed (e.g., J2EE, EJB, Servlets and JMS, JSF, web services, WebSphere, RAD/Eclipse, UDB and Oracle) platform preferred.
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies and DevOps practices such as Infrastructure as Code, Continuous Integration, and automated deployments
  • Ability to interview, facilitate meetings, and document requirements with the customer asking the right questions to drive system requirement and solutioning needs. Ensure technical system requirements are documented, understood, adequately detailed to drive overall solution.
  • Strong analytic, problem-solving, and research skills required, and individual must be willing to challenging the norm to drive innovation and drive great technology solutions.
  • Experience networking across teams to design, develop, and deploy the technology and architecture necessary to deliver quality business solutions. Activities include business case development, solution planning, business process modeling, logical system design, system procedures development, and estimating.
  • Provide input to the definition of functional and non-functional requirements and work with the team to ensure quality objectives are met for both functional and non-functional requirements.  Need to possess strong understanding of testing concepts related to functional, non-functional, performance and capacity planning. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, or related field preferred; however, equivalent professional experience considered


  • AWS Cloud certifications (preferred) 
  • Understanding of various Annuities business processes and systems and understanding of existing LFG Annuities application portfolio
