The Role

As the Designer Splace Planning Consultant, you will consult, analyze and deliver on more complex assignments & projects for Lincoln’s Fort Wayne, IN facility.    You will design work space plans and solutions while ensuring that those solutions address business demands and align with workplace design standards.  You will serve as a resource to internal stakeholders on more complex space planning and interior design projects.



  • Serves as a resource to internal stakeholders on space planning and design projects to ensure timely & successful implementation of space & occupancy planning initiatives
  • Reviews preliminary design concepts and recommends space layout and ergonomic designs to meet business objectives
  • Facilitates the implementation of more complex workplace solutions in alignment with corporate/business unit objectives including integrating workplace outcomes with business & financial targets
  • Provides more complex design support and guidance by interfacing with design teams to address and communicate design related issues
  • Collaborates with internal partners and team members (e.g.CAD Operators) to develop design plans at the lowest cost and best financial outcome
  • Identifies and validates more complex organizational requirements and work space needs including utilization, growth forecasting, specialized requirements, seat counts & employee requirements at the business & employee level
  • Analyzes workplace effectiveness through discussion, site observation, space utilization & benchmarking studies
  • Conducts more complex space layout (test fits, use of space guidelines, office eligibility) & compliance reviews.
  • Collaborates with internal/external stakeholders to ensure that workplace designs address changing business demands & align with the enterprise design standards
  • Recommends furnishings, technologies & other infrastructure as it relates to alternative workplace design
  • Purchases art work and furnishings
  • Influences change management initiatives that support the enterprise workplace design guidelines




  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) in Interior Design or Architecture (Minimum Required)



  • 3 - 5+ Years of experience in workplace planning, commercial architecture, interior design, building construction, life safety and building codes and/or migration management that directly aligns with the responsibilities for this position (Required)
  • Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop collaborative approaches.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong project management skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD software and industry standard project management tools.
  • Process orientated and capacity to assess and shift priorities as required in order to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and multi-task while maintaining strict attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative style.
