The Role at a Glance:

In this position you will serve as the subject matter expert on assumptions, models, and related documentation on Life products within the Life Risk Management and Governance organization.  Additionally, you will be critical in the production and reporting of Quarterly New Business profitability reporting.   You will drive insights, deliver thoughtful feedback, and execute on required deliverables.

What you'll be doing:


  • Act as the key contact between various stakeholders as it relates to assumptions for the Life portfolio.
  • Accurately and concisely compile assumptions sets for Life products, maintaining a database for interested parties.
  • Guide proposed assumption sets through the appropriate approval process.
  • Coordinate the annual Unlocking process, overseeing the timely creation of memos for approval.


Product Governance

  • Actively engage in discussions with Pricing leads during the product development process.
  • Guide new products through the appropriate approval process, thoroughly documenting the journey.
  • Assist in the resolution of any objections raised during the approval process.
  • Attend Product Development workgroup meetings and Financial & Risk Reviews.
  • Accurately and concisely compile documentation related to product development process for future reference.


Model Review

  • Anticipate upcoming model review needs based on product development calendar and model improvement efforts.
  • Actively work with Model Owners to develop your Model Review Plan including dates and contingencies.
  • Communicate often and effectively with various model owners and teams, guiding towards resolution of outstanding issues.
  • Document both your own review as well as confirming the Model Owner’s review.
  • Provide feedback across models such that consistency is developed, or documentation of differences and why in absence of the consistency.



  • Complete industry surveys in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Coordinate responses with various other stakeholders in places to ensure precise and consistent reporting.


Quarterly Profitability Reporting

  • Deliver results according to quarterly reporting deadlines with explanation of quarterly findings and any changes to full year projections.
  • Run models, review results, analyze and explain deviations of quarterly profitability from expected baseline and prior quarter.
  • Oversee the compilation of results from the various model runs, continually searching for opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversee any updates needed to the current process, typically from new products .

What we're looking for:


  • Strong technical skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • FSA, or ASA near FSA; career ASA may be considered
  • 5+ years of actuarial experience


  • Positive attitude and team player
  • Prior experience with actuarial modeling software, preferably MG-ALFA
  • Product knowledge and general Life insurance/business knowledge
