The Role at a Glance
As an Actuary on the Life Financial Reporting and Analysis team, you will play a critical role in understanding, analyzing, and communicating Life’s Statutory Free Cash Flow results. You will perform complex actuarial analysis to gain an in-depth understanding of Life’s financials and provide recommendations to leadership to shape the future of the Life business. This position will provide subject matter expertise and direction on complex projects/initiatives including evolving our capabilities and analytical tools.
What you'll be doing
- Leads quarterly earnings processes that support the reporting, analysis and communication of quarterly Statutory results, at the entity and product level, to various levels of leadership.
- Directs, develops and/or performs complex actuarial and financial analysis to gain valuable insights into the Life business for the team and senior leadership to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.
- Provides subject matter expertise and direction on complex projects including building and enhancing the Statutory Free Cash Flow reporting framework, forecasting process, and level of granularity of reporting and analysis.
- Maintains knowledge on current and emerging Life developments including reinsurance/financing transactions and reserve regulation, assesses/monitors earnings impacts, and shares knowledge and insights.
- Collaborates across the organization to gain understanding, provide knowledge and insights to team members and internal stakeholders, and support critical projects.
- Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives.
- Identifies and directs the implementation of process improvements that significantly improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit.
- Leads actuarial projects and proactively identifies challenges and resolutions.
- Organizes findings in a clear, systematic fashion and presents actuarial recommendations to various levels of management and other stakeholders.
- Maintains awareness of current and emerging developments/trends in the actuarial and financial industry.
What we’re looking for
Must-have:
- 4 Year/Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Actuarial Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or other quantitative major (Minimum Required)
- 5 – 7+ Years actuarial experience directly aligned to the specific responsibilities for this position. (Required)
- FSA designation (preferred) or ASA designation (required)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
- Solid life product knowledge and insurance business/financial knowledge
- Strong understanding of regulatory and accounting frameworks (Stat/GAAP/Tax/RBC)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative style
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead projects, improve processes, and identify and mitigate risks
- Advanced experience with MS Excel and Proficiency with other Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience working with programming languages (e.g. SQL, VBA), data architecture, and/or business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau)

The pay range for this position is $108,501 - $195,900 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
