General Purpose of Job

As the Business Planning Consultant, you will consult & analyze and deliver on more complex assignments/projects for Lincoln's Life Underwriting & New Business Technology department. You  will act as the liaison and primary contact person for 3rd party vendors . This position is responsible budget management, vendor relationship and resource tracking for assigned area of responsibility and for partnering with internal teams on the preparation of contracts and statements of work (SOW). You will collaborate with internal stakeholders on budgeting and resource alignment, communications and other planning activities.

You will ensure expenses align with budget expectations; ensure supplier and vendor contracts meet current needs & more cost effective; create and develop reports and dashboards to help showcase our expense story; budget & forecast expenses; lead special projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

Acts as a resource and point of contact on escalated issues and monitors issue resolution.
Analyzes/manages the resource capacity of team members for his/her assigned area of responsibility, including but not limited to forecasting future resource needs for the team.
Champions and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Collaborates effectively with project team members to plan out strategic initiatives for current and future projects, minor system enhancements, product implementations, and/or forms management.
Consults/Analyze on more complex assignments and/or projects for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Defines the communications and plans needed for budget and resource capacity management customized to define current and forecasted budget expenses and resource capacity for future project and minor work items as needed.
Determines more complex best practices and suggests how to improve current practices.
Develops and/or collaborates with appropriate internal stakeholders on the development of statements of work for projects as needed.
Facilitates and maintains the relationship with 3rd party platform vendors within his/her assigned area of responsibility. Schedules meetings and provides consultation where needed.
Facilitates contract negotiations with 3rd parties on monthly/annual licensing fees.
Identifies and recommends process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.
Manages and validates budget expense for projects, contractors and monthly & annual invoices including assessing impact of future expenses.
Partners with internal stakeholders to monitor, evaluate, and review vendor expenses.
Serves as a resource to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on more complex assignments/projects for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Tracks and monitors contract/SOW deliverables and obligations.

Education

4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) - Minimum Required

3 - 5+ Years of experience in budget and resource management that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position (Required )

Strong excel skills / proficiency 

 

Work Arrangement:

Hybrid/Home : Employees will work from home generally three days each week and come into a Lincoln office on a schedule their manager will help set, following any applicable in-office training period determined by their manager.
