Role at a Glance:

As the Senior Business Innovation Strategist, you will research long-term trends and gather market intelligence, consider the implications for Lincoln’s Individual Life Insurance business, and then educate senior leadership in a way that influences strategic direction.  Building on those insights, you will identify and explore innovations that can drive profitable growth.  Working within the New Frontier team, and with partners in functional areas across the company, you will design innovative solutions, test concepts, and build strategies that make a compelling case for change.  

What you’ll be doing: 
•    Identifies and assesses innovative ideas for new products and/or new markets.
•    Directs the innovation process by creating actionable plans to identify, design, and assess the most significant opportunities for business growth.
•    Leads cross-functional teams to build and execute business plans, developing relationships that bridge organizational boundaries and include individuals at multiple levels.
•    Plans and manages pilot process to bring new solutions to market, build prototypes, test concepts, measure results, gather feedback, and adjust course as needed.
•    Maintains knowledge of current and emerging trends, assesses the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate these insights into current and future strategies.
•    Provides thought leadership that stimulates strategic and innovative thinking throughout the organization.
•    Identifies and communicates relevant consumer insights, competitive intelligence, and analytical findings to key business stakeholders in a manner which influences them to adopt ideas and strategies.

What we are looking for:

•    Undergraduate Degree or 4+ years of comparable work experience. MBA preferred.
•    5-7+ years of management consulting, corporate strategy, innovation and/or market intelligence experience.
•    Experience researching trends and marketplace actions, analyzing complex information, synthesizing findings, and evaluating implications. 
•    Experience creating a compelling business case that outlines strategic opportunity and convinces management to pursue a new idea.
•    Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical discussions/presentations.
•    Deep intellectual curiosity and a passion for learning.
•    Ability to work across all levels in the organization and get things done with areas and through people where no direct management relationship exists.
•    Ability to shift between projects nimbly as priorities and deadlines change.
•    Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
•    Strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
•    Demonstrated track record of meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations.
•    Strong focus on results and driving performance targets to completion.
