The Role


This position will provide subject matter expertise on the MuleSoft API platform and/or IBM Integration Bus.  S/he will develop innovative complex business solutions by designing and creating new APIs, modifying existing APIs and providing post production support.   S/he will provide application development and architecture direction and guidance; and ensure the security of all APIs, internal or external, and provide overall technical leadership.  This position will be a member of the API Management team.




• Analyzes, designs, codes, debugs, integrates and tests complex software application solutions for API/Web Service implementations on the MuleSoft platform.

• As one of the leads of the API Management team, provides subject matter expertise to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects 

• Assesses and measures solution design impacts on IT infrastructure capacity, application architecture standards, future maintenance/support needs, and bottom line cost-benefits in consultation with appropriate internal stakeholders.

• Design, Build & Implement Business Monitoring Tools, Real-Time Integrations, Synchronous/ Asynchronous services, schedulers, and reusable components. 

• Develop, implement OAuth 2.0 to authorize business resources and connect APIs. 

• Implement Cloud Integrations such as Salesforce, Splunk, AWS S3 and HTTP/S connectors. 

• Creates reusable connectors, code fragments and RAML fragments for enterprise APIs.

• Investigates and resolves complex problems including providing support for production systems in a timely manner.

• Lead developers with lesser experience on the MuleSoft platform.

• Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.

• Communicates effectively with internal stakeholders and management.

• Creates more complex technical specifications from business requirements/business specifications.

• Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented.

• Identifies potential application solutions by understanding complex business/technical problems and opportunities.

• Investigates and resolves complex problems including providing support for production systems in a timely manner.

• Partners with internal stakeholders to ensure that systems are designed, developed and implemented from a business point of view.

• Proactively identifies problems and presents/develops complex solutions

• Provides direction to development teams in areas of project scheduling, technical direction and application development standards.

• Provides expertise regarding the integration of applications across the business.

• Provides input on the development of project plans, test plans and implementation plans including determining estimates on time frames, needed resources and budgets.

• Serves as a subject matter expert &/or provides direction on the design & development of applications systems while demonstrating an understanding of the broad implications & financial impacts of proposed solutions on operational & infrastructure support.

• Serves as a technical expert and provides complex technical guidance to junior team members.

• Serves as an escalation point for issue resolution.

• Serves as lead technical resource to ensure completion of development tasks.




• 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor’s) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology or Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience (Minimum Required)

• MCD - Integration and API Associate (Mule 3.x) certification




• 5 7+ Years’ experience in Java application development that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position (Required)

• Knowledge and experience in web service technologies such (WSDL, SOAP), REST, OpenAPI, RAML or Swagger

• 2 years Development experience in MuleSoft Anypoint Studio 6.0.0, Mule ESB 3.9 or equivalent certification.

• Experience with the Java Spring Framework

• MuleSoft Certified Developer and MCD-API Design Associate (RAML 1.0)

• Demonstrated experience utilizing DevOps platforms and processes (GitLab, Maven, Jenkins, CI/CD)

• Experience delivering projects via Agile methodologies

• Experience with data & system integration concepts and standardization

• Experience and knowledge of web service security best practices (OAuth2, Mutual TLS, HTTP Auth, etc.)

• Knowledge of Insurance and Financial Industry concepts

• Strong collaboration skills and experience working as part of a software development team #LI-KM1
