The Role

This position is responsible for the successful implementation of large and very large cross-functional programs and projects in support of Human Resources at Lincoln Financial Group. This person leads project teams through planning and execution, and monitors and controls the project through the project lifecycle. This person may also direct the work of other Project Managers assigned to the project/program, and relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. This role may also work with senior level business leaders to develop sound business rationale for initiatives, guiding them from idea to project initiation.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead large to very large cross-functional programs and projects
  • Plan, execute and control projects through the project lifecycle
  • Utilize influence skills to help achieve project results
  • Manage program/project scope, schedule and cost, following an established change management process
  • Assist with project procurement activities – requests for information, requests for proposal, contract negotiation
  • Manage project staffing efforts
  • Work with Project Owners, other Project team members to manage project quality
  • Facilitate program/project communications, working with sponsors and other leaders/contributors
  • Work with the project team and key stakeholders to identify issues and risks, and to implement correction action plans or risk response plans as appropriate
  • Utilize analytical skills and business acumen to facilitate business case development with business area leaders

 

Education

  • 4-year degree preferred
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred

 

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in a formal project management role with demonstrated skills in relationship building, communication, negotiation, change management, conflict resolution, planning and project management of complex projects that drive project delivery
  • 4 years of Human Resource Project experience, delivering projects that span the full enterprise.
  • Successful track record of completing projects on time, on budget and within scope
  • Expert knowledge of project management methodology and its practical application towards completing work and driving project delivery
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven relationship management, negotiation and organization skills
  • Ability to work independently or in a team, set priorities and meet deadlines on multiple projects
  • Ability to be creative and assertive in developing solutions
  • Ability to mentor others
  • Ability to be an agent of Change and build this mindset in others
