The Role at a Glance

We are excited to bring in a knowledgeable and resilient leader as the VP, Life Qualified Actuary, within our Insurance Finance organization that supports Lincoln’s Retail Solutions.  You will lead a team of highly skilled Valuation actuaries who help ensure a strong and accurate balance sheet, understanding of actuarial results, and their connection to the broader business goals.  You will be at the center of many strategic business opportunities and challenges with the expectation of delivering strong, understandable guidance to senior executives.

What you'll be doing

  • Leverage your team of highly skilled individuals to help achieve the goals of the Finance team and the many leaders you will partner with on strategic initiatives.
  • Ensures accurate reporting of actuarial balances for GAAP, Statutory and Tax through partnership with Corporate Valuation & Modeling and provides clear messaging of results to management.
  • Serves as the Life Solutions Qualified Actuary for Asset Adequacy Testing and Principle Based Reserving.
  • Provides thought leadership to peers and senior management on broad actuarial issues (reserving, assumptions, strategies, and risks).
  • Collaborates with key business/management stakeholders to drive the development and adoption of key financial decisions and risk management techniques for the enterprise.
  • Monitors developments in actuarial industry and represents the company on industry and professional committees and with regulators and auditors.
  • Ensures that top talent is hired and retained for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.

What we’re looking for

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) (Minimum Required)
  • 10+ Years of experience years in actuarial science that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position, including 5+ years of management, strategy, and influencing senior management/critical stakeholders experience (Required)
  • Expert level knowledge of GAAP and Stat regulations for Life Insurance contracts with a preference for LDTI, PBR, and off-shore experience
  • Resilient and competent in their approach to do what is right for policyholders and the company while navigating and influencing others within an enterprise.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to think critically, analyze information and evaluate the implications of a course of action or solution.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategies and business plans to deliver and exceed expected business objectives and results. 
  • Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g., senior/executive management, peers, and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches.
  • Demonstrates strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). 
  • Demonstrated experience as a thought leader. Will be able to demonstrate being sought after for advice, counsel, and judgment.

 

Level: P6 

 

Pay Range: $169,701 - $306,200 

 

Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees.  In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.  Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
