The Role at a Glance

This position will support advanced pricing and risk analytics for annuities.  You will design/develop/maintain modeling solutions to determine key drivers and assess impacts to profitability and risk metrics for deeper insights.  You will collaborate with pricing, quality of new business, annuity finance, ERM, and other key departments regularly.  You will communicate results to stakeholders and serve as an expert and key resource for the team. You will seek to elevate analytics bench strength, drive efficiency, and minimize model risk through continuous improvement in our infrastructure and processes. 

What you'll be doing

  • Design and implement customized modeling solutions as needed to support analysis of complex actuarial issues and strategic initiatives
  • Update and maintain the logic, functionality, and assumptions of annuity pricing models, mitigating model risk by developing and following best practices
  • Proactively identify and drive enhancements to modeling infrastructure and capabilities to drive competitive advantage consistent with enterprise long-term strategy
  • Actively contribute to strategic initiative implementing annuity pricing models into AXIS.
  • Actively maintain and drive enhancements to robust model governance practices
  • Evaluate the impact of changes in GAAP and Stat reserving and capital standards on product design and profitability
  • Develop subject matter expertise in our pricing models, capital market and actuarial assumptions, and advise stakeholders on complex projects
  • Collaborate with Corporate on model governance and other modeling initiatives.
  • Perform analysis using vendor or internally developed software, analyze the results for new/redesigned annuity contract and rider benefits, and provide consultation on actuarial models and risk issues
  • Analyze risk management strategies, such as hedging and reinsurance, and their impact on product risk and profitability. 
  • Evaluate potential changes in investment options, risk managed fund strategies, regulatory requirements, and hedging strategies.
  • Represent Annuity pricing in cross-functional risk management initiatives, and lead ad hoc projects as assigned
  • Recommend resource prioritization by evaluating cost benefit trade-offs holistically

What we’re looking for


  • 8+ years of actuarial experience (typically FSA designation)
  • Substantial experience with actuarial modeling; Annuity IVA/RILA in particular is a plus
  • Solid communication skills, and works well across teams
  • Understanding of regulatory/accounting/capital frameworks (STAT/GAAP/Tax, RBC, EC)
  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts and translate into modelling frameworks
  • Agile mindset and ability to balance and pivot across projects with shifting priorities


  • Competency with Python, Excel VBA, Dataiku, AXIS
  • Experience in advanced modeling/ analytics, financial engineering and market risk analysis
  • Understanding of capital markets and financial instruments (assets and derivatives) that support annuities
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement processes improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote continuous improvement practices and collaborations across teams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and development
  • Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior management, peers and colleagues)
  • Demonstrated success in providing strategic and holistic thought leadership

Pay Range: $102,301 - $184,500 


Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees.  In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.  Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
