The Role at a Glance:

As a Sr. Strategic Planning Consultant, you will provide subject matter expertise and direction on complex strategic projects and planning initiatives for retail businesses, focus on Annuities. In this position, you will develop strategic plans for achieving business goals and objectives. This role partners with Annuity leadership and teams to design plans and report out to our executive team, while ensuring plans align to overall business area strategy and objectives. Overall, this role will support the development of the Annuity business’s strategic plan, strategic messaging, and strategic initiatives. 

What you'll be doing:

  • Facilitate meetings with Annuity leadership team to build the Annuity business strategy, and other strategic presentations delivered to our executive team and board of directors
    • Driving dynamic, give-and-take conversations to develop optimal approach to delivering on goals
  • Partnering with internal/external resources to identify and understand implications of trends, threats and opportunities to Annuity business
    • Leading complex analysis to assess environmental factors and advising Annuity leadership team on how information should be integrated into strategic plans for improvement
    • Lead and/or support strategic projects outlined in strategic plan as needed
  • Lead development of materials & messaging for quarterly Annuity business reviews
  • Support Annuity quarter close process with strategic messaging for the annuity business
  • Providing subject matter expertise on planning best practices and developing process to continually improve plan implementation, monitoring, and refinement
  • Carrying out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines.
  • Complying with all company and site policies and procedures.
  • Remaining current in profession and industry trends.
  • Making a positive contribution as demonstrated by making suggestions for improvement and continuing to learn new skills, procedures, and processes
  • Performing other duties as required.

What we're looking for:

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) 
  • 5 – 7+ Years of experience in business planning directly aligned to the specific responsibilities for this position 
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; Ability to analyze complex information, evaluate the implications of a course of action or solution and succinctly describe recommendations. 
  • Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed, and logical discussions/presentations.
  • Finds common ground and can gain collaboration among senior/executive management, colleagues, and peers; can influence outcomes without directing or commanding.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment; Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches.
  • Demonstrates strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and recommend processes improvements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Nice-to-haves:

  • Expert skills in PowerPoint
  • Strong understanding of Annuity manufacturing or distribution
  • Understanding of other insurance or financial services products primarily sold through advisors
