The Role at a Glance
We are excited to bring on a Senior Data Steward to support the Annuity Solutions Data Governance Team in a work from home environment.
Background Details
As the Senior Data Steward, you will provide subject matter expertise and direction on complex projects and initiatives while partnering closely with product owners, project managers and the larger Annuity product release team. You will serve as a mentor to the Data Governance team and provide guidance and direction on all data governance activities including the management of data definitions, master tables and data elements while achieving favorable data governance metrics. You will also serve as a point of contact for data governance activities including the communication of Data Governance Council decisions. If this sounds like a role for you, please read on!
What you'll be doing
- You will provide subject matter expertise to team members and internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments and projects for the Annuity Solutions team. You will provide direction on complex assignments, projects and initiatives to build and enhance the capability of the team.
- You will be the liaison between business leads, subject matter experts and IT project leads to implement and maintain a high-quality Data Governance program. You will lead the community of data users and analysts, managing meetings and agendas, facilitating workshops and providing communication of issues. You will collaborate regularly with data owners and data custodians to identify and resolve complex data governance issues in a timely and collaborative manner.
- You will improve the quality and reliability of enterprise data through discovery and process improvement. You will manage, design and develop data definition, production, usage, classification and compliance rules across the enterprise. You will also facilitate resolutions of data definition, production and usage across multiple business units.
- You will design and maintain data governance scorecards to support Annuity Solutions discussions and decision making while supporting Data Governance Council discussions and decision making. Additionally you will identify, initiate and develop processes/projects to implement the Data Governance vision and framework while remaining aligned with overall business objectives.
- You will maintain knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends, assessing the impact, and collaborating with senior leadership to incorporate new trends/developments into current and future solutions. You will direct and enhance organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management. You will also identify and direct the implementation of process improvements and automation that significantly improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit.
What we’re looking for
Must-have experience (Required):
- Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
- 5 – 7+ Years of experience that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities of this position.
- Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical discussions/presentations.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret both internal and external documents such as general media/publications, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, policies, proposals and standard operating procedures.
- Ability to analyze complex information and to evaluate the implications of a course of action or solution.
- Strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. management, peers and colleagues) and the proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches.
- Strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Nice-to have Experience (Preferred):
- Annuity or Life insurance experience/knowledge is strongly desired.
- SQL programming knowledge and practice.
- Working knowledge of Tableau desktop and/or other BI platforms.
- Ability to identify, recommend and lead processes improvement efforts.

Pay Range:
Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
