The Role


As the Training Associate, you will provide routine facilitative, instructional training development, and documentation support on behalf of Lincoln’s Life Underwriting & New Business area.  You will also perform routine training needs analysis and evaluation and post training assessment.




Organizational Effectiveness

  • Maintains a high level of accuracy in content, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Researches issues/concerns independently, determining the answers to new business systems and processing questions utilizing resourcefulness, initiative and sound judgment.
  • Provides back up processing support as needed
  • Provides routine and/or daily reporting of training activities to Operations and Training Management
  • Represents the interests of assigned area/team on projects as assigned by manager on strategic projects including technical, procedural and IT related
  • Remain current with the industry to make appropriate recommendations of new training methods and technology

    Training & Development

  • Delivers training which demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in a variety of settings (classroom, remotely via WebEx) is required.
  • Work closely with department managers to identify training needs and facilitate the creation of learning and development plans for staff
  • Implement learning solutions based on needs assessment results, and training manager direction, to meet department training objectives
  • Under close supervision, organize and conduct training programs in conjunction with new employee orientation, and coordinate with external speakers for training sessions when appropriate.
  • Under close supervision, conduct technical and functional training for new hires and internal stakeholders
  • Develops routine training materials, manuals and visual aids. Verify content accuracy with appropriate qualified source.
  • Develops, document, and maintains routine written procedures as needed.
  • Develops and maintains routine records of training activities
  • Provide feedback during the training process to management of trainees’ progress.
  • Conducts post training proficiency assessment of trainees and provides progress reports to supervisors and managers.
  • Maintains training inventory (manuals, training plans, etc.)




  • Undergraduate degree or 4+ years of comparable work experience




  • 0-1+ years of experience in Training that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position
  • Lincoln Life Underwriting & New Business strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience sharing technical knowledge with team members preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating training utilizing training materials and guidelines preferred.
  • Demonstrated application of adult learning and instructional design principles
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills, especially prioritizing multiple projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Read and interpret documents such as policies and procedures
  • Write routine reports and business correspondence, training documentation and process / procedure documentation
  • Evaluate trends in analytical data.
  • Exhibits a high degree of motivation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Captivate, Adobe Professional, Flash, or similar Web authoring software experience preferred
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations.
  • Possesses a bias for action and avoids workplace distractions.
  • Drives performance targets to completion
