Lincoln Financial is excited to be adding a Network Unified Communication Engineer to help with migrating the current Voice, Video and Data Solutions to a Unified Communications Platform.  This person will have the opportunity bring Lincoln’s IT infrastructure to the forefront of Unified Communications technology and serve as a technical expert in all voice and video solutions moving forward. 


The Network Unified Communications Engineer will provide technical leadership, subject matter expertise and direction on complex projects/initiatives for their assigned area(s) of responsibility. This position will function as a technology and service leader in the architecture, design, planning, delivery of the enterprise network providing converged voice, video and data services organizations.  This engineer will design and deploy Telecom Voice technologies including Avaya/Cisco systems and lead site telecom work and administration. S/he will also deploy LAN/WAN, Internet/Extranet and remote access VPN related network involving Cisco Nexus, Cisco Catalyst, Cisco ISE, Cisco Wireless, Checkpoint Firewall technologies. S/he will partner with infrastructure teams to deploy network infrastructure to remote facilities both new build and refresh in existing site.



  • Subject Matter Expert in voice configurations, policies, and routing over a complex WAN infrastructure (SBC, SIP, Media Gateways, VoIP, H.323, PBX, QoS),
  • Responsible for the support the existing enterprise voice technologies such as Avaya Communication Manager, Session Manager, System Manager, AES Server, Avaya Site Administrator, IP Office, One X Agent & Communicator, Phone Configuration, Tracing call routes & Support Tools,
  • Deliver advanced knowledge to configure, install, manage, maintain and upgrade enterprise voice platform transition to Cisco CUCM systems
  • Provide consultation and direct technical support in incident, problem and change management processes for all voice related issues.
  • Implement voice system maintenance/administration, releases, upgrades, and/or changes into the environment.
  • Ensure voice platform performance and availability meet enterprise objectives through monitoring, timely service restoration, diagnostics and tuning.
  • Responsible for the delivery of the enterprise IP Network, Wide Area Network (WAN) and features supporting converged technologies (network, compute, storage), convergence of all voice, video and data traffic on the IP network including; TCP/IP application traffic, BGP Routing, Quality of Service (QoS), IP Multicast, Voice over IP, Video over IP and Content Delivery Network (CDN) services using Cisco, AWS, Avaya and Microsoft platforms.
  • Deliver technical support, consultation and collaboration with the enterprise network, security, cloud and unified collaboration teams including integration and dependencies with voice, video, security, compute and storage platforms including; Cisco Nexus, Cisco UCS, Symantec Proxy, Checkpoint Firewall, Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Voice over IP (VoIP), Cisco Telepresence and Avaya Communications Manager.
  • Responsible for implementation and troubleshooting for enterprise IP network, data center, unified communications and cloud related infrastructure, services, network connectivity, IP traffic routing and performance issues to resolution, completely and accurately documenting all work activity in the organizations problem tracking system.
  • Analyzes utilizing network tools to investigate and remediate pending network issues for internal and inter-site connectivity issues working with the appropriate teams to resolve any issues that arise from the deploymen


Education and Experience

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Candidate is expected to have 8+ years of experience (not less)
  • Hands on experience Active Cisco/Avaya Voice, Video, and Route Switch certifications or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Experienced with Visio, Microsoft: Word, Excel, PPT, and Outlook
  • Advanced level hands on experience with Avaya CM, Session Manager, System Manager, AES Server, ASA, IP Office
  • Hands-on experience over various H.323 & H.248 media gateways such as G650, G450, G430
  • Advanced level hands on experience over SBC’s, SIP Call flow, ITFS, TFN, DID’s, ISDN PRI’s, SIP Trunks
  • Advanced hands-on Experience over T1/E1, H.323 protocol, SIP protocol, QoS, CODEC’s such as G.711, G.729
  • Should have advance Cisco knowledge in CUCM, Telepresence, IM&P, Expressways, Cisco Meeting Server, WebEx, Spark, and voice gateways
  • Should have be expert in troubleshooting over capturing various traces such as MST, traceSM, Wireshark, stations, trunk traces
  • Should be capable of troubleshooting complex scenarios where call is traversing through various SIP entities along with IVR
  • Experience with Cisco IP Network and Network Security Solutions and infrastructure, BGP routing design and implementation
  • Cisco Nexus, Cisco ACI, Cisco UCS, WAN / IP Addressing /SDN designs and implementations
  • Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) and Identity Services Engine (ISE) solutions and infrastructure
  • Symantec (Bluecoat) Forward Proxy and Checkpoint Firewall, Intrusion Detection/Prevention
  • Internet connectivity design, Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) technologies and solutions
  • Network Hardware: Cisco: (Nexus, Catalyst, ISE, Wireless), Checkpoint Firewalls, CradlePoint, OpenGear

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle & feel & talk, hear & see.

  • Employee must be ablae to work more than 40 hrs. per week.
