We are excited to bring on a Sr. Premium & Billing Service Processor to join our Group Protection Operations Team supporting Workplace Solutions in our Omaha, NE; Atlanta, GA; Dover, NH; Charlotte, NC or Phoenix, AZ offices.


Background Details
The Group Protection Operations Team will help you grow your group benefits knowledge and establish strong partnerships (internally/externally) while working in this fast-paced environment. 


As a Sr. Premium & Billing Service Processor, you will perform and deliver on routine & progressively more non-routine assignments for their assigned area(s) independently in accordance with established procedures/guidelines. You will manage a more complex premium & billing application, which may include configuration/setup of large new accounts in applicable system(s). You will research discrepancies and conduct analysis to determine root cause. You will also address escalated issues from team and support non-production tasks, which may include reporting, quality reviews, process improvements, and other projects/initiatives. What you’ll be doing

  • Supports and promotes change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Meets or exceeds departmental quality and service standards.
  • Works overtime as needed.
  • Works independently delivering on routine but progressively more non-routine work, in accordance with established procedures and guidelines in a timely manner and meets deadlines appropriately.
  • Makes routine and progressively more non-routine decisions independently, in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
  • Shares a diverse range of knowledge and information and/or enables less experienced team members to perform their assignments.
  • Performs a diverse range of tasks/transactions related to common programs and services by directly applying expanded knowledge obtained from the role in increasingly more complex situations.
  • Manages more complex premium & billing cases, which may include assigned accounts, in accordance with established procedures and guidelines, in a timely manner and meeting departmental quality/production standards.
  • May handle configuration/setup and ongoing maintenance of large, complex and/or atypical accounts in applicable system(s).
  • Monitors and reviews more complex premium & billing cases to ensure proper completion including researching deep issues, and that the information is in good order
  • Troubleshoots issues with premium & billing to identify more complex root cause and issue resolution
  • Collaborates with customers, TPAs, brokers, and/or internal partners to clarify any discrepancies or address other issues.
  • Acts as the first point of contact for escalated issues from junior team members providing responses and a diverse range of information regarding all areas of premium & billing; further escalates issues as needed
  • Independently responds to complex customer inquiries and performs research to resolve high priority escalated issues/concerns with a sense of urgency to foster a recommendable customer experience
  • Creates reports and Excel spreadsheets for data reporting and problem solving, and/or self-billed templates for assigned accounts
  • Assists with more complex reporting, including internal controls and process documentation, to maintain financial controls
  • May assist with monitoring and tracking quality to support quality goals
  • Audits customer data for accurate implementation of ongoing premium & billing processing
  • Recognizes more complex issues/concerns and suggests process improvements and system enhancements
  • Creates and maintains procedural documentation
  • Attends meetings and conference calls and participates in projects/initiatives involving various levels of internal and external staff and management
  • Assists with new-hire orientation activities, which may include new-hire one-on-one training

What we’re looking for

Must-have experience (Required):

  • High School diploma or GED or minimum Associate degree in lieu of required experience. (Minimum Required)
  • 3 - 5+ Years of billing, premium, and/or reconciliation experience that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position 


Nice-to have Experience (Preferred):  

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt as needed. 
  • Ability to articulate/alter provisions – comfortable with contract language.
