The Role

This position will consult and deliver pre-sales technical and functional support to prospective clients.  S/he will consult with customers on how to integrate Lincoln Financial Group products with customer systems.  S/he will act as a resource to Sales and IT partners to ensure a thorough understanding of the technical aspects of the product suite, ensuring the setting of customer expectations and a good technical start in transitioning to the onboarding teams. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.
  • Champions and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Serves as a resource to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on more complex assignments/projects for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Identifies and recommends process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Consults/Analyze on more complex assignments and/or projects for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Provides pre-sales technical and functional support to prospective clients.
  • Consults and collaborates with internal and/or external customers and stakeholders to determine more complex technical specifications from business requirements.
  • Develops full understanding of customer’s existing and desired business environment to determine functional and technical requirements.
  • Acts as a resource to provide sales stakeholders with customer solutioning, technical discussions, information exchange capabilities, and functionality expectations prior to sale.
  • Provides presentations of LFG’s software solutions to internal and external clients as it pertains to client’s requirements.
  • Responds in a timely manner to RFPs, RFIs and various other client requested material and information.
  • Liaises with multiple IT departments to gather all necessary and required information needed, documents and validates more complex technical requirements.
  • Continuously maintains a significant understanding of LFG’s portfolio of products including, but not limited to: current product offerings, hosting and technical architecture, product demonstrations, and roadmap enhancements.
  • Consults and acts as a resource to appropriate internal stakeholders to influence development roadmaps based on customer trends.
  • Represent LFG in various sales initiatives such as trade shows, conferences and industry events.
  • Communicates benefits and features of various insurance products based on client needs.
  • Advises on system capabilities & constraints during sale process; calling out impacts of ‘non-standard’ system use (risks to system stability, data integrity, etc.).
  • Provides technical input on capabilities and implementation effort direct to Distribution & Customer to reduce inaccurate assumptions & expectations.
  • Provides ongoing support/technical relationship management.
  • Determines more complex IT best practices/innovations and suggests how to improve current practices.
  • Extensively travels to client locations for ongoing consultations.
  • Carries out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines.  Complies with all company and site policies and procedures.
  • Remains current in profession and industry trends.
  • Makes a positive contribution as demonstrated by:  - Making suggestions for improvement - Learning new skills, procedures and processes
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

Education & Experience

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) (Minimum Required)
  • 3 - 5+ Years experience  in technical consulting related to pre-sales and/or customer integration. (Required)
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret both internal and external documents such as general media/publications, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, policies, proposals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze information and to evaluate the implications of a course of action or solution.
  • Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Evaluate trends in data or information.
  • Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop collaborative approaches.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong project management skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
  • Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements.
  • No Licensure or Certification Required.
