The Role at a Glance:

We are hiring a Consumer Insights Consultant immediately in a work from home capacity.

Background Details:

It’s an exciting time for Consumer Insights at Lincoln, as we are growing and shaping the consumer insights practice and its impact in the organization.  As the Consumer Insights Consultant, you will serve as a subject matter expert and will be responsible for educating internal partners on important consumer trends and show the value of consumer data on all phases of business growth and strategy, including anticipating business opportunities and forecasting key trends, improving market performance, informing product development and guiding distribution, marketing and service evolution. You will design and manage research on consumers and customers in support of Lincoln’s Life and Annuity Business Units. You will lead research initiatives focused on identifying business growth opportunities, supporting innovative product and service development, and go-to-market strategy and tactics. You will also analyze diverse industry data sets to provide a thorough quantitative understanding of consumer needs and behaviors related to the insurance purchase process to drive customer experience improvements. When coupled with qualitative insights, you will translate research and analysis into actionable information and knowledge to impact the strategic direction of Lincoln’s Life and Annuity Business Units.
 

What you'll be doing:

  • Develop and shape consumer insights practice and elevate insights throughout the organization  
  • Design and manage quantitative and qualitative research on consumers and customers in support of Lincoln’s Life Insurance and Annuity businesses  
  • Support initiatives focused on business growth, innovation, and go-to-market strategy and tactics.
  • Analyze and synthesize industry data and primary research to provide a thorough understanding of consumer needs and behaviors
  • Transform data into compelling visuals to tell a story and support audience understanding of key research insights.
  • Present research findings and lead conversations with business stakeholders focusing on how insights can be used to inform strategy and drive action

Influence & Execution:

  • Synthesize data, interpret findings, and communicate key learnings clearly and concisely to share insights with business stakeholders
  • Develop presentations and delivers research findings to project teams and senior management
  • Use knowledge of consumers, customers, competitors, and the marketplace to advise stakeholders on business issues
  • Synthesize proprietary research findings and third-party data to develop recommendations for strategic action
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on cross-functional project teams, leveraging research to present solutions and recommendations to drive business results 
  • Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, designing and leveraging research to help answer key questions to support business goals and initiatives

Collaboration:

  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify research questions, and design and manage qualitative and quantitative research efforts to meet the needs of multiple stakeholders, collaborating with stakeholders throughout the process 
  • Oversee projects with external research vendors, acting as a liaison between Lincoln stakeholders and research vendors, ensuring timely delivery of project deliverables, and working collaboratively with research vendors and Lincoln stakeholders to identify meaningful insights and opportunities for strategic action
  • Build relationships and meet regularly with stakeholders (e.g. Marketing, Sales, Strategy, Product, Operations, Innovation, and Customer Experience and others) to maintain a strong understanding of the strategic challenges, and proactively shares relevant insights and consumer trends

Consumer Insights / Research Skills: 

  • Explore multifaceted methodology options, leveraging qualitative and quantitative research, syndicated research, and secondary data to build actionable consumer insights
  • Analyze and synthesize consumer data to provide an understanding of consumer needs, attitudes, behaviors, financial service decision- making and product preferences
  • Build expertise on various sources of internal/external consumer information and data sources, especially pertaining to elements and characteristics relevant to consumer attitudes, behavior, financial decision-making and product preferences

What we're looking for:

Must-haves:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in market research, financial services, workplace benefits, and/or marketing/communications
  • Experience using online survey tools
  • Agile testing experience preferred (e.g. usability testing, test and learn, iterative testing, etc.)
  • Experience using tools like Excel, SPSS, SAS, R, or Tableau for data analysis
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably with academic coursework or experience in qualitative or quantitative research experience of 5+ years. 
  • Project Management skills

Nice-to-haves:

  • Specific survey tool experience with Qualtrics
  • Insurance or Finance industry experience
