The Role at a Glance

As a Product Lead, you will be responsible for the strategic direction and Product Management activities of your specific Product Area.  In this role you will lead a team and have responsibility for determining and supporting the breadth of Investment Products available to Lincoln Financial Network (LFN) Financial Professionals, with the goal of having a robust and diverse product lineup that ensures competitive parity and meets end investor needs. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including Product Partners and Financial Professionals as needed for new products and product updates. #LI-REMOTE

What you'll be doing

  • You will be responsible for all product management activities for your assigned product area.
  • You will be responsible for the strategic direction of your product area, inclusive of product strategy, business cases, product analytics & insights, and competitive analysis.
  • You will participate in product governance activities, overseeing due diligence for your product area.
  • You will have responsibility for product launches and existing product support. 
  • You will collaborate with other functions within the organization (Legal, Risk, Operations, Managed Accounts, etc.) as well as interact with Financial Professionals.
  • You will lead and oversee Product Specialist(s) and Analyst(s) to disseminate workload across their teams and assign product and research responsibilities where appropriate.
  • You will collaborate with internal Investment Consultants to assure the team is providing relevant product insights that enables the team to deliver best in class advice.
  • Identifies and directs the implementation of process improvements that significantly improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit.
  • Provides direction on complex assignments, projects, and/or initiatives to build and enhance the capability of your assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.
  • Ensures that top talent is hired and retained.
  • Advises and/or collaborates with appropriate internal and external stakeholders to ensure product messaging is aligned with business priorities and compliant with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Provides subject matter expertise regarding complex product information in marketing materials, contracts, and prospectus language, and reviews/approves final content and language for accuracy.
  • Directs and/or provides subject matter expertise on product training and product rollouts by explaining campaigns and other product design concepts and features.
  • Works closely with key stakeholders to anticipate and mitigate potential risks and roadblocks. Sets project priorities to meet deadlines and departmental goals.
  • Identifies and resolves complex product-related issues by applying product and organizational knowledge.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key internal and external partners through participation in workgroups, advisory committees, meetings, and presentations.
  • Carries out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines.  Complies with all company and site policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required.

What we’re looking for

Must-Haves:

  • 5+ Years of Experience in the financial service/insurance industries with experience in product development and implementation.
  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)
  • FINRA Series 7 License - 180 Days upon hire
  • FINRA Series 63 or 66 License – 180 Days upon hire
  • People leadership experience 
  • Experience with Investment Products in a product management, due diligence, oversight, or sales capacity.
  • Ability to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in assigned Product Area.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment; Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative style.
  • Demonstrates strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
