The Role at a Glance
This position under Lincoln’s Chief Actuary organization will provide leadership, direction, and functional expertise on annuity financial projections. The candidate is expected to become an expert of Lincoln’s annuity business, thoroughly understand its liabilities and assets, and uncover key business insights for senior management. The candidate will also play an integral role in delivering accurate and timely projections for exercises such as Asset Adequacy Testing, Asset-Liability Management, and Financial Planning.
The position will provide in-depth exposure to all things related to annuity asset/liability modeling and projections, such as Statutory/tax accounting, reserves, capital, investments, asset-liability interactions, and management actions, as well as opportunities to present findings to senior management.
What you'll be doing
- Lead critical processes involving annuity projections, engaging with internal/external stakeholders to better understand results, quantify drivers of change, and share key business insights.
- Provide thought leadership and functional expertise on projected cash flows and optimize the company’s financial position while minimizing risk
- Lead methodology and process improvements that enhance quality and timeliness of financial projections.
- Communicate complex results effectively to audiences of various levels
- Provide training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and give honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent
What we’re looking for
Must have:
- 12+ years of increasing actuarial experience, including 5+ years of demonstrated leadership experience influencing senior management/critical stakeholders
- FSA designation or ASA designation with additional years’ actuarial experience
- Extensive experience with modeling Annuity products (Variable Annuity with/without living benefits, Registered Indexed Linked Variable Annuity (RILA), Fixed Indexed Annuity, Fixed Annuity, and Payout Annuity)
- Strong understanding of regulatory/accounting/capital frameworks (STAT/GAAP/Tax, LDTI, RBC, EC, etc.) and general insurance business knowledge
- Understanding of capital markets and financial instruments (assets and derivatives) that support Annuity products
- Actuarial modeling and/or valuation experience, preferably in GGY AXIS
- Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches; can influence outcomes without directing or commanding.
- Demonstrated strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
- Analytical skills: ability to think critically, identify, and solve potential challenges
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, adaptable to a wide variety of audiences throughout Lincoln’s organizational structure
- Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or other quantitative major
Nice-to-have:
- Competency with SQL, Dataiku, VBA, and Python
- Experience working with business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau)
- Demonstrated history of innovation and process improvement

The pay range for this position is $125,800 - $229,100 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
