The Role at a Glance:

In this position you will provide leadership, direction, and functional expertise on Annuity Valuation as part of the Annuity Valuation & Modeling team.  You will play an integral role in providing annuity reserving and reporting leadership to support key business objectives.  In this role you will also oversee the monitoring of trends in actuarial techniques and transformation, research into laws and regulations applicable to company operations, and partner with management to develop strategies to incorporate them into business solutions. 

What you'll be doing:

Reserving & Reporting Leadership:

  • Provides specialized expertise and thought leadership to internal/external stakeholders for annuity reserve requirements. Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends including regulatory changes, assesses the impact, and collaborates with management to incorporate new trends and development in current and future strategies.



  • Collaborates with internal/external stakeholders to identify strategic process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality.  Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management. 


Team Environment:

  • Partners with a team of professionals regarding analysis of industry evolving topics, including GAAP long duration targeted improvements and principles based reserves/capital.  Participates or leads workgroups by evaluating issues and problems of strategic significance.


Relationship Building:

  • Collaborates with individuals across key stakeholder groups including Business Unit Finance and Actuarial teams, Market Risk Management, Pricing, and Enterprise Risk Management to develop insights into critical areas of focus in variety of market environments and other drivers of interest.

What we’re looking for:


  • 12+ years of actuarial experience
  • 3+ years of management or demonstrated leadership experience
  • Substantial experience with Annuity products (Variable Annuity with/without living benefits, Indexed Variable Annuity, Fixed Indexed Annuity, Fixed Annuity, and Payout Annuity)
  • Strong understanding of regulatory/accounting/capital frameworks (STAT/GAAP/Tax, RBC, EC)
  • Understanding of capital markets and financial instruments (assets and derivatives) that support the products we sell
  • Works well in a team environment
  • Ability to think critically, identify and solve potential challenges
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently


  • Actuarial modeling and/or valuation experience, preferably in MG-ALFA and GGY AXIS (or comparable actuarial modeling software)
  • Competency with R, Python, SQL, and/or Excel VBA
  • Experience working with business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau)
  • Familiarity with modern data science approaches

Pay Range: $138,001 - $251,200 


Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees.  In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.  Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
