The Role at a Glance

This position provides strategic leadership, direction, and deep accounting expertise to oversee Bank Reconciliation and Suspense Reconciliation functions. They are responsible for directing reconciliation activities across certain accounts, ensuring their accuracy, integrity, and completeness in compliance with accepted accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements. This role serves as a key driver of transformational efforts — including supporting efforts of evaluation and implementation of new reconciliation capabilities. They will partner broadly across the enterprise to advance automation, enhance controls, and deliver operational excellence.

What you'll be doing

Accounting & Reconciliation Technical Leadership
•Analyzes and resolves highly complex reconciling items, breaks, and aging balances; develops and implements remediation strategies to prevent recurrence with focus on higher risk/ impact areas.
•Directs the preparation, review, and analysis of reconciliation reporting for internal stakeholders, senior leadership, and auditors.
•Monitors SOX and internal control procedures, assesses effectiveness, and develops and implements mitigation plans as needed.
•Directs relationships with internal and external auditors for assigned areas; ensures identified issues are resolved in a timely and collaborative manner.
•Anticipates and provides strategies and solutions to complex accounting problems or emerging reconciliation trends.

 

Operational Leadership & Process Improvement
•Drives adoption of automation and future-state technology solutions to advance reconciliation capabilities, address higher-risk accounts, and strengthen enterprise controls.
•Collaborates with Treasury Operations, Accounting, and various Finance and technology partners to ensure alignment on process changes, system integrations, and reporting requirements.

 

People Leadership & Organizational Development
•Directs, establishes, and implements priorities, performance goals, and objectives to ensure departmental results for assigned areas of responsibility.
•Directs and evaluates departmental performance; takes appropriate and timely action to meet and/or exceed performance standards.
•Ensures top talent is hired and retained; builds organizational capability through thoughtful workforce planning and development.
•Demonstrated ability to successfully hire, retain, develop, and coach staff via a culture of real-time performance feedback, with ability to build both technical and leadership skills across the team.
•Builds organizational capability and fosters a high-performance culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

 

Strategic & Enterprise Engagement
•Partners with enterprise Finance teams to ensure transparency in reporting and alignment on reconciliation outcomes, control issues, and risk remediation.
•Participates in enterprise Finance leadership activities.
•Develops and manages the budget for assigned areas of responsibility.
•Provides required approvals for regulatory and internal reporting as applicable to assigned areas.

What we’re looking for

•4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) (Minimum Required)
•10+ years’ experience in reconciliation, reporting or accounting like functions; 5+ years of people leadership experience, including leading and developing teams
•CPA preferred
•Prior experience with supplier hosted or in-house reconciliation tools, including leading technology implementations and process transformation efforts to enhance reconciliation capabilities and controls.

The pay range for this position is $127,500 - $232,300 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees.  In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.  Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
