The Role


This AVP Financial Analysis position will be a member of the Financial Planning and Analysis team, specifically serving as a key business partner by providing and supporting the Group Protection (GPGP) business line. S/he will direct, lead, prepare, analyze and report on business line forecasted and actual results and provide management with a financial perspective for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility. This role offers high visibility working directly with Senior Leadership and has room for growth in a dynamic team with a great culture. 



  • Responsible for the development of GP monthly & quarterly earnings forecast, memo and dashboard that includes financial statements, key performance drivers, analysis of key business trends and delivering explanations of earnings drivers and variances.
  • Directs’, leads, prepares, analyzes and presents on complex financial information and earnings across multiple basis of accounting and reporting for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Leads continued development of GAAP and Statutory Analysis, Forecasting, and Modeling tools.
  • Leads and performs complex GP segment specific responsibilities such as loss ratio analysis, interest margin analysis, goodwill analysis, and financial plan assistance.
  • Interact and communicate with Finance and GP business line financial management, including senior management.
  • Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Identifies and directs strategic process improvements that significantly improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Provides subject matter expertise and support to the financial analysis team in the preparation and delivery of complex analysis of financial information including complex financial analysis for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging trends related to industry trends, assesses the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.
  • Anticipates and proactively provides strategies/solutions to complex financial problems.
  • Evaluates financial information to develop and deliver more complex standard and ad-hoc financial analysis.
  • Prepares, analyzes and reports on complex financial information for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility. 





  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent years of comparable work experience required.



  • 10+ years of experience in Financial Analysis or comparable fields.
  • 3+ Years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience including influencing senior management/critical stakeholders experience.
  • Relevant Insurance industry preferred
  • Experience working with Essbase, Hyperion and SAP Business Objects a preferred
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to adapt the communication of complex items to suit different audiences.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and multi-task while maintaining strict attention to detail and recommend process improvements.
  • Strong project management skills including critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop collaborative approaches. #LI-AE1
