The Role

This position has responsibility for developing Corporate Executive Communications strategies and materials, including serving as the communications point person for the Chief Information Officer and the IT/Digital leadership team. S/he will collaborate with Executive Leadership to develop a broad range of internal and external communications aimed at helping Lincoln Financial achieve its business and communication goals. In addition, s/he will support business-area media relations, PR and crisis management, as needed. 



  • Serves as Corporate Communications leader responsible for developing and implementing IT/Digital Communications Strategy within and outside of Lincoln.
  • Coaches, mentors and otherwise develops employees on IT/Digital Communications team.
  • Serves as acting and contributing member of the Corporate Communications Leadership Team.
  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for the IT and Digital space, as well as other potential area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.
  • Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Builds and maintains strong and productive business partner relationships to facilitate the successful planning and execution of strategic communications initiatives.
  • Identifies and directs strategic process improvements that significantly improve quality and results across the team, department and/or business unit for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Directs/executes approved strategy decisions and contributes to strategy creation for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Oversees development of (and develops) powerpoint presentations, news releases, social media posts, videos, blogs, articles, podcasts, speeches, talking points and other communications tactics.
  • Implements instruments and routines for regular collection and reporting of success metrics and resulting continuous improvement plans.
  • Collaborates across the organization to help the Corporate Communication function achieve its organizational goals and objectives, always remaining aligned with Lincoln Financial's integrated communications plans and overall business plans.
  • Collaborates with other corporate communicators on departmental and senior leader communications.
  • Ensures all materials produced are of a consistent & uniform professional quality in accordance with Lincoln’s brand standards.
  • Carries out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines.  Complies with all company and site policies and procedures.
  • Remains current in profession and industry trends.



  • 4 Year Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)
  • 0 - 1+ Years’ Experience within Financial Services and/or Life Insurance Industries required 



  • 10+ Years of progressive experience in Executive Communication and/or Corporate Communications that directly aligns to the responsibilities of the position. 
  • Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical discussions/presentations.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret both internal and external documents such as general media/publications, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, policies, proposals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to analyze complex information and to evaluate the implications of a course of action or solution.
  • Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Demonstrates project management skills, including critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing skills (grammar, punctuation, tense, usage, etc.)
  • Ability to translate complex and complicated topics, issues, products, situations or opportunities into simple and compelling language that achieves communication goal.
  • Ability to generate content for use across traditional and digital channels, including print, web, social and video.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with collaborative style.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
