General Purpose of Job

To provide leadership, direction and functional expertise on complex communications projects and initiatives in the area of Investor Relations. To prepare, analyze and report on complex Investor Relations information. In addition, to contribute to the development of the Investor Relations departmental strategy and collaborate with colleagues from all of Lincoln’s business lines to develop and communicate solutions.


The Role at a Glance

Reporting to the VP, Head of Investor Relations, this role is accountable for developing key external messages for LFG relating to quarterly and annual financial results. The position will interface with the investment community and LFG senior executive management.  The position will be expected to develop communications that will educate investors and analysts on LFG’s business strategies and performance.

What we’re looking for

•    4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)
•    10+ Years of experience including significant involvement in investor relations/investor communications, financial communications and/or financial analysis that aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position.
•    Experience with life insurance accounting preferred but not required.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical writing, discussions and presentations.  Ability to transform complex issues into simple and concise messaging.
•    Excellent business analytic capabilities.  Connects the big picture, understands the business and manages complexity across deliverables.
•    Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g., senior/executive management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches.
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
•    Leadership skills with an ability to work across multiple functions and business groups.  Operates well in ambiguity and is resilient in changing situations.

What you'll be doing

•    Develop and edit strategic messaging, including earnings call scripts, press releases, the Management Discussion & Analysis section of company filings, investor presentations, and Q&A documents.
•    Maintain knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends particularly in the area of financial communications to the broader investment community, including equity and fixed income investors and analysts as well as rating agencies.  Assess the impact and collaborate with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.
•    Provide analytical insights about the company’s results and develop compelling and clear messaging to the investor community, while simplifying complex technical topics. 
•    Contribute to Investor Relations strategy development for promoting the Company to analysts, investors and rating agencies.  Anticipate and proactively provide strategies/solutions for investor relations issues/concerns, particularly in the area of external messaging.
•    Perform peer benchmarking analyses resulting in recommended improvements to external financial communications.  Build consensus across all levels on recommended changes to external disclosures.
•    Develop exceptional relationships with Business Group leaders, Legal, Corporate Finance and Corporate Capital and understand their strategies, initiatives, risks, regulatory environment, financial plans, and other significant matters relevant to investors to ensure that the appropriate financial messages are presented to external stakeholders.
•    Provide senior management with comprehensive information regarding developments in the financial markets with respect to the company’s stock.
•    Monitor, research and analyze complex investment community research on competitor results and stocks.
•    Monitor, analyze and report on current earnings per share estimates, price targets, analyst ratings and other metrics for the company and peers.

Pay Range: $118,300 - $215,800 


Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees.  In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.  Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
