The Role

This position provides leadership, direction and functional expertise on complex projects/initiatives for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility. S/he will contribute to the development of environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategies and best practices that improve Lincoln's sustainability practices.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements strategies to improve Lincoln's sustainability practices, including but not limited to incorporating market trends, investor requirements and employee expectations.
  • Directs and identifies strategic improvements for environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks and integrates issues into the enterprise risk management process.
  • Provides strategic subject matter expertise to team members on industry specific trends related to ESG issues, and tracks/monitors issues in the marketplace as they develop.
  • Directs ESG data collection processes across all locations, then using the gathered information interprets and develops reports aligned with standard reporting frameworks including but not limited to the greenhouse gas (GHG) protocol.
  • Provides strategic subject matter expertise and direction on aspects of public sustainability reporting, investor survey responses and internal/external stakeholder communications.
  • Develops and executes the strategy to identify and prioritize ESG issues for the company and creates project plans based on this assessment.
  • Develops and executes internal and external strategies including environmental targets to ensure continuous improvement of sustainable business practices
  • Prepares presentations for senior leadership and the board of directors as needed on departmental initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.
  • Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Provides subject matter expertise to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Identifies and directs strategic process improvements that significantly improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Directs/executes approved strategy decisions and contributes to strategy creation for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Provides strategic direction to build and enhance the capability for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.

 

Requirements

 

Education

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)

 

Experience

  • 10+ Years sustainability experience that directly aligns to the specific responsibilities of this position.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement processes improvements.
  • Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative style.
  • Demonstrates strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
  • Finds common ground and can gain collaboration among management, colleagues and peers; can influence outcomes without directing or commanding.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements #LI-CG1
