The Role at a Glance
We're excited to bring on an AVP, Strategic Initiatives & Transformation to serve as a strategic partner to the annuities chief actuary teams, leading critical initiatives that shape the future of our Annuity actuarial operations. In this role, you will drive high-impact strategic projects, own key components of our enterprise-wide actuarial transformation efforts, and serve as a central coordination point for complex, cross-functional initiatives. This is an opportunity to operate at the intersection of actuarial expertise, business strategy, and operational excellence, with direct visibility to senior leadership and the ability to influence the direction of our annuity actuarial function.
What you'll be doing
•Lead strategic initiatives critical to the annuity actuarial function, including reinsurance transactions, enterprise modeling enhancements, and other high-priority projects that require deep actuarial insight and cross-functional coordination
•Drive significant modeling enhancement initiatives that advance the technical capabilities and accuracy of our actuarial models, working across product lines and modeling frameworks to implement sophisticated methodologies
•Perform rigorous analysis, review, and validation of actuarial results for strategic initiatives and transformation projects, ensuring technical accuracy and soundness of conclusions before presentation to stakeholders and senior leadership
•Own and drive key workstreams within the broader actuarial transformation program, including initiatives to enhance analytics capabilities, develop automated dashboards, improve reserve attribution processes, and evolve modeling platforms
•Serve as the central orchestrator for complex projects that span multiple actuarial functions including Valuation, Modeling, Projections, and their intersections with Finance, Risk Management, and Product Development—ensuring alignment, managing dependencies, and driving execution
•Partner with annuities chief actuary leadership to scope, plan, and operationalize strategic initiatives from conception through implementation
•Manage ad-hoc analytical requests and special projects from senior leadership, providing rapid yet rigorous analysis and actionable recommendations
•Translate complex actuarial and technical concepts into clear business insights for diverse stakeholder audiences, including executive leadership
•Identify opportunities for process improvements, operational efficiencies, and innovation across the actuarial function
•Build strong relationships across the organization, leveraging existing team resources and cross-functional partnerships to deliver outcomes
What we’re looking for
Must-have:
•12+ years of progressive actuarial experience with demonstrated success leading complex, strategic initiatives
•FSA designation or ASA designation with additional years' actuarial experience
•Substantial experience with Annuity products (Variable Annuity with/without living benefits, Indexed Variable Annuity, Fixed Indexed Annuity, Fixed Annuity, and Payout Annuity)
•Proven experience with actuarial modeling platforms and modeling methodologies across various product types and regulatory frameworks
•Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or other quantitative major
•Strong strategic thinking abilities—can see the big picture, identify key priorities, and develop pragmatic implementation approaches
•Exceptional project management skills with ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives, navigate ambiguity, and drive results in a matrixed organization
•Outstanding stakeholder management and influencing skills; ability to build credibility quickly and operate effectively across all organizational levels
•Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities—can quickly synthesize complex information and develop sound recommendations
•Superior communication skills (written and verbal) with ability to distill complex technical topics for executive audiences
•Self-starter mentality with high degree of initiative, ownership, and ability to work independently
Nice-to-have:
•Knowledge of GAAP/Stat/Capital frameworks, including LDTI and PBR
•Experience with AXIS modeling platform
•Technical and programming skills, particularly Python, SQL, or similar analytical technologies
•Experience with organizational change management and transformation initiatives
•Background in reinsurance structuring and operational implementation
•Demonstrated history of process improvement and innovation
•Experience working in a strategic advisor capacity

The pay range for this position is $146,501 - $264,700 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
