The ADP Program Overview


The Actuarial Development Program (ADP) at Lincoln Financial Group is an industry-leading program that demonstrates Lincoln Financial’ s commitment to creating highly qualified business leaders.  As an ADP participant, you’ll be able to explore your unique interests while developing the essential actuarial, technical, management, communication, and leadership skills you need to succeed. The Actuarial Development Program includes a series of rotations, typically every 18-24 months. For each rotation, roles are available in different business areas including Life and Annuities, Retirement and Group Protection. Experience gained will enable participants to become well-rounded actuaries with knowledge that may include Product Development, Pricing, Valuation, Modeling, Risk Management, Asset Liability Management, Investments, Data Analytics, and Internal Audit.

 

ADP participants are expected to pass the Society of Actuaries’ exams at a prescribed pace. The program is designed to support you as you work towards your FSA and provide the training and resources necessary to become a well-rounded actuarial leader.

What you'll be doing

As an Actuarial Analyst II, you will support assumption monitoring and development for Lincoln’s fixed, fixed indexed, indexed variable, and variable annuities where you will be responsible for:

 

Assumption Updates

Perform annual assumption updates to annuities assumptions using both traditional experience studies and predictive modeling techniques
Make innovative improvements to processes and documentation as needed
Communicate methodology and results to stakeholders through presentations and documentation

 

Actual to Expected Analysis

Perform regular updates to the annuities actual to expected processes in SAS and Dataiku
Update surveys, studies, and reporting processes to leverage Dataiku
Analyze results and look for trends in data that can be leveraged for assumption improvements, pricing, and product decisions
Maintain the Dataiku actual to expected process as the source of truth for experience data and actual to expected analysis
Troubleshoot issues and make innovative improvements as needed 

 

Regular Reporting

Update, analyze, and distribute weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports under manager supervision

 

Special Projects

Develop new experience studies for simplified or under-studied assumptions
Work with Annuity Pricing Support and Analytics team to productionalize actual to expected analyses they have developed for new business
Develop certified dashboards for automatic monitoring and reporting of experience
Support other team members as needed

What we’re looking for

Candidate requirements:
•    1-4+ years of actuarial experience
•    Minimum 1 year of data processing and manipulation
•    At least 3 actuarial exams passed
•    Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
•    Excellent organization and documentation of work product

 

An ideal candidate will also have:
•    Knowledge of annuity products
•    Experience using data visualization software like Tableau
•    Experience using Dataiku
•    Passed exam PA
•    Experience in predictive modeling
•    Programming experience in SAS, SQL, Python

The pay range for this position is $61,501 - $112,000 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees.  In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.  Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
