The Role at a Glance
The Actuary, Annuity/RPS VA Production, is a lead modeling role within a Principle-Based environment. The individual will be responsible for the statutory modeling and reporting of Variable Annuity business for VM-21, Capital, and Rating Agencies. This role is involved in the build and validation of Variable Annuity models performing various runs from these models. The role will also be responsible for analyzing results and communicating their findings to the team and other key stakeholders. The position leverages data tools to streamline processes and utilize data visualization techniques. The modeling is in a Principle-Based environment and the individual will understand how the modeling conforms to the statutory regulation.
What you'll be doing
- Actuarial Modeling: Understand the Variable Annuity models and identify areas where modeling can be improved. Maintain and expand knowledge to recognize model and process improvement opportunities.
- Production Reporting: Function in a production environment with tight audit controls and orderly documentation. Maintain a strong emphasis on attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness of reporting. Understand drivers of change from the models and improve methods to effectively communicate results. Balance priorities of various ad hoc requests.
- Quality Improvements: Build on existing automation efforts with Dataiku and Tableau to increase efficiency, gain insight into the analysis of results, reduce the potential for error, and improve presentation of results. Embrace a continuous improvement mindset to constantly innovate and enhance all aspects of the production processes.
- Team Environment: Work with a team of professionals on a variety of projects including the production, analysis, and communication of results from the actuarial models.
- Relationship Building: Deliver informative analysis and results from the actuarial models by partnering and collaborating with other functional areas across the company including Accounting Close, Financial Planning & Analysis, Market Risk Management, Pricing, Audit, Enterprise Risk Management, Investments and Corporate Actuarial.
- Regulation: Maintain and expand knowledge of Variable Annuity statutory regulations and best practices. Stay current on potential regulation changes within the industry.
What we’re looking for
- 10+ years of actuarial experience
- FSA designation or ASA designation with substantial additional years actuarial experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Self-starter with ability to work independently
- Proficiency with AXIS, ALFA or similar projection software systems
- Substantial experience and understanding of variable annuity products and statutory regulations is preferred
- Competency with Dataiku, Tableau, or similar technology is preferred

Pay Range: $87,700 - $159,900
Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
