The ADP Program Overview


The Actuarial Development Program (ADP) at Lincoln Financial Group is an industry-leading program that demonstrates Lincoln Financial’ s commitment to creating highly qualified business leaders.  As an ADP participant, you’ll be able to explore your unique interests while developing the essential actuarial, technical, management, communication, and leadership skills you need to succeed. The Actuarial Development Program includes a series of rotations, typically every 18-24 months. For each rotation, roles are available in different business areas including Life and Annuities, Retirement and Group Protection. Experience gained will enable participants to become well-rounded actuaries with knowledge that may include Product Development, Pricing, Valuation, Modeling, Risk Management, Asset Liability Management, Investments, Data Analytics, and Internal Audit.

 

ADP participants are expected to pass the Society of Actuaries’ exams at a prescribed pace. The program is designed to support you as you work towards your FSA and provide the training and resources necessary to become a well-rounded actuarial leader.

As an Associate Actuary on the Annuity Pricing Support and Analytics Team, you will be responsible for:
Supporting capital market analytics for index annuities (variable and fixed), and traditional variable annuities with guarantees. You will design and implement innovative modeling solutions to evaluate key drivers of profitability and risk metrics for deeper insights.  You will lead analyses relating to changes in investment options, hedging strategies, regulatory/ accounting requirements, and capital market assumptions.  You will communicate results to stakeholders, serve as a subject matter expert, and provide thought leadership. This position offers high visibility to management, collaborating across Annuity Solutions, Finance, Market Risk Management, and more.

What you'll be doing

•Advancing annuity earning projection model infrastructure, with more robust reflection of evolving hedge strategy and capital management
•Analyzing risk management strategies, such as hedging and reinsurance, and their impact on product risk and profitability 
•Leading R&D and analysis of new investment options and innovative product features, e.g., custom indices and/or index account crediting methods, risk managed funds
•Developing subject matter expertise in our pricing models, capital market and actuarial assumptions, and advise stakeholders on modeling and risk issues
•Using advanced tools and software to enhance computational capabilities, provide deeper insights, and build prototypes
•Providing ad-hoc support towards modeling solutions initiatives, such as actuarial software conversion, computing grid infrastructure upgrades, and other continuous improvements
•Building relationships and collaborating with others across different business units
•Coaching junior team members, continuously improving the team’s capabilities, and strengthening the team’s culture  

What we’re looking for

Must-have:
•3-6+ years of experience in actuarial science
•At least 7 actuarial exams passed; typically has ASA designation, progressing towards FSA designation
•Solid foundation of capital markets and financial instruments (assets and derivatives) 
•Experience in actuarial modeling of annuity or life products 
•Competency with one or multiple of the following: R, Python, SQL, Excel VBA, Tableau 
•Driven, motivated and resourceful problem-solvers with critical thinking skills who are eager to learn, are coachable and committed to the rotational program parameters laid out by Lincoln
•Demonstrated success in balancing and pivoting across projects with shifting priorities
•Strong relationship management skills and collaboration experience across functional areas

 

Nice-to-haves:
•Understanding of regulatory/accounting/capital frameworks (STAT/GAAP/Tax, RBC, EC)
•Experience using actuarial software. Knowledge of AXIS is a plus
•Familiarity with derivative pricing techniques and hedging strategies
•Competency with multiple of the following: R, Python, SQL, Excel VBA, Tableau

The pay range for this position is $79,601 - $145,100 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees.  In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.  Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
