The Role at a Glance:

The Associate Actuarial Analyst in the Asset Liability Management (ALM) area will be involved in all aspects of the ALM process.  ALM starts with building a robust set of deterministic and stochastic economic scenarios.  Next, working closely with the asset modeling team to ensure asset projections are built, validated, and checked before passing along to the ALM modeling teams.  Collaboration and engagement with the ALM modeling team is key to make sure results are submitted according to our expectations.  Collecting model data through Dataiku and Tableau, building off the shelf reports and visualizations, and analyzing results through regular and ad hoc projects are the final steps of the ALM process.  The Actuarial Analyst in this role will be involved in all stages of this process and will be required to take ownership of many of these parts.

What you'll be doing:

  • Process, organize, maintain, and analyze ALM model results through Dataiku and Tableau.
  • Build visualizations to help better understand model results.
  • Set up controls and look for efficiencies in the existing model result database process.
  • Coordinate with modeling teams to ensure model outputs are aligned with expectations.
  • Build out Microsoft Teams tracking process for annual ALM process.
  • Analyze ALM model asset sales and purchases to make recommendations about less liquid asset limits.
  • Build, test, and validate in-force asset projections for use in MG-ALFA modeling software.
  • Build and review deterministic scenario sets for use in ALM modeling.
  • Create asset assumption tables for use in ALM/CFT models.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers to recommend new reinvestment asset strategies based off ALM model output.

What we’re looking for:

  • Undergraduate Degree: with a concentration related to Actuarial Science
  • 3+ years of experience in Actuarial Science
  • Demonstrated ability to pass actuarial exams, ASA designation preferred
  • Ability to synthesize large volumes of data, extract insights, and identify data anomalies
  • Analytical skills: ability to think critically, identify, and solve potential challenges
  • Knowledge MG-ALFA, Dataiku, and Tableau preferred
  • Ability to bring innovative thinking to improve current processes
  • Priority setting, time management and organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
