The ADP Program:

The Actuarial Development Program (ADP) at Lincoln Financial Group is an industry-leading program that demonstrates Lincoln Financial’ s commitment to creating highly qualified business leaders.  As an ADP participant, you’ll be able to explore your unique interests while developing the essential actuarial, technical, management, communication, and leadership skills you need to succeed.
Program participants receive up to 175 hours of company time to study per exam sitting. Lincoln Financial Group purchases required exam materials and pays exam fees in advance for each program participant.

The Role at a Glance

As an Associate Actuary you will play an integral role in the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function supporting actuarial risk oversight across multiple lines of business.  The focus of this group is to deliver insightful, value-add, actionable risk analytics and governance to drive business results.


In this role, you will be responsible for expanding enterprise framework capabilities, reporting of risk and profitability metrics, and supporting ERM business representatives in their oversight of products, assumptions, and actuarial initiatives. This position will use software and data visualization skills to advance critical projects/initiatives within the Chief Risk Office, reporting to the VP, Corporate Actuary and Head of ERM Product Risk.  


This role offers a unique combination of experience in corporate actuarial oversight, ERM product risk, and strategic business partnership at an exciting time in the newly expanding Chief Risk Office. 

Rotation to another role as part of the Actuarial Development Program is expected to be 18-24 months from on-boarding

What you'll be doing

Pricing, Product, and Risk Analysis

  • Assist in the review of new product strategies, development, design, pricing, and implementation.
  • Evaluate the impact of the potential product design changes on the reserve and/or capital requirement, profitability, and tail risks.
  • Support assumptions oversight for multiple operations, including assumption development, modeling, annual updates, and risk assessments.
  • Support the development of risk/return pricing standards and risk management methodologies based on actuarial and capital markets/economic principles.


Business Management

  • Establish effective working relationships throughout the organization, both at the corporate level and within the businesses.
  • Build business and actuarial acumen across various product lines in terms of product knowledge, risk profiles, modeling approach, and reserve requirements.
  • Monitor and analyze developments in actuarial techniques, laws, regulations, and competitive developments in the marketplace.
  • Implement process improvements, consistency, governance, controls, and oversigh.


Special Projects

  • Participate in ad hoc projects related to product development, implementation, inforce management, and corporate risk management initiatives. 
  • Assist in the buildout of Lincoln Financials’ risk appetite framework for new business.
  • Support the advancement of financial metrics and dashboards for use in strategic planning.

What we’re looking for

  • 3-6 years of experience in actuarial science
  • Typically has Associate (ASA) designation, progressing towards FSA designation
  • Strong technical and actuarial skills
  • Proficiency with programming, data visualization software, and actuarial systems
  • Strong project management skills, including critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment with occasionally changing priorities
  • Comfort working with and communicating across various teams and levels of seniority
  • Curiosity, comfort asking questions and challenging the status quo
