The Role

 

This position will be responsible for providing efficient administration, implementation and delivery of Health and Welfare Benefits programs.  S/he will consult/analyze and deliver on more complex assignments/projects for his/her assigned area(s) of Health and Welfare Benefits responsibility.  S/he will also act as a resource to applicable internal/external stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities

  • Implements, integrates, and executes employee and retiree health and welfare benefit projects/programs to ensure accuracy in benefits delivery, strong plan performance, regulatory compliance and cost containment.
  • Performs more complex annual open enrollment activities, including coordinating stakeholders/resources for the delivery of benefit enrollment; developing effective communications to maximize employee understanding of benefit programs and system enrollment.
  • Designs and delivers open enrollment presentations to employees at various key city locations.
  • Performs more complex benefits related compliance activity (i.e. ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA) including the development, implementation, documentation, and monitoring of compliance related matters.
  • Prepares, reviews & obtains necessary documentation for qualified plans, with legal consultation; IRS/ERISA mandated submissions and employee communications, including Plan Documents, Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs), Summary of Material Modification.
  • Serves as a resource to colleagues on resolution of more complicated benefit issues including working with carriers to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Tracks and monitors all Health and Welfare vendors to ensure accuracy in benefits delivery and strong plan performance, including resolution of claims and administrative issues.
  • Analyzes more complex health and welfare statistics and presents key findings to management.
  • Evaluates benefit program requests for information (RFI) and makes recommendations to management. Develops company cost information for new plans.
  • Develops and facilitates effective communication plans of active health and welfare employee benefit programs to describe changes to and processes of existing plans and to highlight the value of LFG benefits.
  • Maintains knowledge of benefit trends & regulations in the area of Health & Welfare to ensure that new trends/regulations are incorporated in the current and future benefit programs of the Company to help differentiate Lincoln as an employer of choice.
  • Ensures projects for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility meet quality, schedule, milestone, and budget commitments.
  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.
  • Champions and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Serves as a resource to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on more complex assignments/projects for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Identifies and recommends process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Consults/Analyze on more complex assignments and/or projects for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility

 

Requirements

 

Education

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)
  • CEBS, CBP, PHR, or SPHR preferred

 

Experience

  • 3 - 5+ Years of experience in Health & Welfare, Human Resource Administration, Human Resource Consulting, and/or Human Resources that directly relates to the responsibilities of this position
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop collaborative approaches.
  • Demonstrates ability to identify and recommend processes improvements.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and multi-task while maintaining strict attention to detail.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
