The Role at a Glance:
We are thrilled to bring on an Application Development Analyst for a remote position.
A Data Engineer will have duties across three main functional areas: a primary focus on DS/BI application development and support, with a secondary focus on data governance, and analytics/research. The Customer360 Data Engineering team manages a private cloud hosted data science platform application leveraged by hundreds of users and involves technical development and user administration across multiple instances. They also develop and implement data governance practices including ingestion, documentation and cost analysis while managing a handful of analytics engagements each month which leverages basic analytical methods as well as an ability to navigate a complex data environment involving many dimensions and domains.
What you'll be doing:
- Analyzing, designing, coding, debugging, integrating and testing increasingly complex software application solutions for systems.
- Determining how existing applications, systems, databases, interfaces and/or hardware can interact to meet new and emerging enterprise initiatives.
- Researching, developing, implementing and maintaining increasingly complex business application solutions.
- Identifying potential application solutions by understanding increasingly complex business/technical problems and opportunities.
- Analyzing increasingly complex systems specifications of existing programs to determine requirements.
- Documenting increasingly complex programs and procedures.
- Providing input and validating increasingly complex project plans, test plans and implementation plans.
- Creating increasingly complex technical specifications from business requirements/business specifications.
- Preparing and/or generating test data.
- Testing increasingly complex program changes thoroughly to ensure accuracy.
- Partnering with internal stakeholders to ensure that systems are designed, developed and implemented from a business point of view.
- Consulting and/or participating in the requirements, design and coding walkthroughs to ensure the development of quality solutions.
- Investigating and resolving increasingly complex problems including providing support for production systems in a timely manner.
- Proactively identifying problems and presents/develops solutions.
- Defining detailed development tasks, task dependencies and estimates to complete work.
- Serving as a resource to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on more complex assignments/projects.
- Carrying out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines. Complying with all company and site policies and procedures.
- Remaining current in profession and industry trends.
- Making a positive contribution as demonstrated by making suggestions for improvement and continuing to learn new skills, procedures and processes.
What we’re looking for:
Must-haves:
- 3 - 5+ Years experience in application development that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position
- 4 Year/Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology or Computer Engineering
- Strong project management skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrates ability to identify and recommend processes improvements.
- Demonstrates excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and multi-task while maintaining strict attention to detail.
- Ability to work with others in a team environment; Finds common ground and can gain collaboration among management, colleagues and peers; can influence outcomes without directing or commanding.
- Demonstrates the ability to use sound judgment and discretion regarding confidential information.
- Technical proficiency in the following areas:
- Languages – PrestoSQL, HiveQL, Spark, mySQL, Python
- AWS services- EMR, EC2, EKS, S3, Lamba, Aurora, SQS, Cloudwatch
- Git/Gitlab-Version control and CI/CD pipelines
- Development in ETL tools – Autosys, Informatica, etc
- Data Science Tool administration and user experience (like Dataiku DSS, Sagemaker, Databricks, DataRobot
- Alteryx, JupyterHub)
- Visualization tools (like Tableau, PowerBI)
Nice to-haves:
- Technical proficiency in the following areas:
- Jira
- HTML
- Java/Angular
- API service integrations

Level: P3
Pay Range: $63,100 - $137,900
Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
