We are looking for a Software Engineer to join a true agile development team in the midst of rejuvenating our web application portfolio in support of the Group Protection business. This work ranges from enhancing existing capabilities with the utmost emphasis on the customer experience to adding new features and functionality that our customers truly desire. Our goal is to have the best web experience in the industry. All this while performing operations functions, such as improving our CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure. We strive to work with User Experience and Product Management in an effective relationship to drive our development and create customer-centric solutions.

What you'll be doing

•    Constructing and implementing software within a full stack environment (Front end, API, persistence, integrations)
•    Leveraging Java and Spring Boot in building a reliable back-end
•    Using JavaScript and React to build a modern front-end 
•    Managing the full lifecycle of web application development; from designing, writing, testing, building, deploying, to monitoring
•    Using tools such as Gitlab, New Relic, and Slack, to drive operations and collaboration
•    Practicing and driving engineering practices such as DevOps (CI/CD; you build it, you own it), 12-factor design, and independent architecture

What we’re looking for

Must Haves:

Backend Expertise:

  • Proficiency in Java and Spring (Kotlin and Node.js are pluses)
  • Strong experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and microservices architecture
  • Deep understanding of SQL/NoSQL databases
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization

Additional Skills:

  • Front-end experience with React (Angular a plus)
  • Use of AI tooling in software development
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with event-driven architectures and message queues
  • Background in performance tuning, scalability, and security best practices
  • Demonstratable technical independence

The pay range for this position is $69,000 - $124,600 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees.  In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.  Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
