The Role at a Glance

 

As a Senior Associate Actuary, you will play an integral role as the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) representative for the Group business plus oversee all aspects of product risk team technology solutions, data visualizations, and enterprise reporting. The focus of this group is to deliver insightful, value-add, actionable risk analytics and governance to drive business results.

In this role, you will be responsible for oversight of Group product development and pricing, assumptions risk and governance, and new business profitability reporting. This position will also use coding and data visualization skills to advance strategic projects/initiatives plus be responsible for the production and review of multi-line risk/return and profitability reporting. 

This role is within the Chief Risk Office, reporting to the VP, Corporate Actuary and Head of ERM Product Risk.  It offers a unique combination of experience in corporate actuarial oversight, ERM product risk, and strategic business partnership at an exciting time of transformation.

What you'll be doing

 

Group Pricing, Product, and Risk Analysis

  • Assist in the review of new product strategies, development, design, pricing, and implementation.
  • Evaluate the impact of the potential product design changes on the reserve and/or capital requirement, profitability, and tail risks.
  • Lead assumptions oversight for Group business, including assumption development, modeling, annual updates, and risk assessments.
  • Partner on strategic reinsurance opportunities and analysis.
  • Support the development of risk/return pricing standards and risk management methodologies based on actuarial and capital markets/economic principles.

Business Management

  • Establish effective working relationships throughout the organization, both at the corporate level and within the Group business.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on all Group product lines in terms of product knowledge, risk profiles, modeling approach, and reserve requirements.
  • Monitor and analyze developments in actuarial techniques, laws, regulations applicable to Group operations, plus competitive developments in the marketplace.
  • Implement process improvements, consistency, governance, controls, and oversight.
  • Research and prepare briefings on status of key projects and initiatives to senior leaders.

Special Projects

  • Participate in ad hoc projects related to product development, implementation, inforce management, and corporate risk management initiatives. 
  • Assist in the buildout of Lincoln Financials’ risk appetite framework for new business.
  • Support the advancement of financial metrics and dashboards for use in strategic planning

 

What we’re looking for

 

  • 6-10 years of experience in actuarial science
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation or Associate (ASA) with additional years of actuarial experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Group insurance mechanics and product strategies
  • Proficiency with programming and data visualization software (PowerBI a plus)
  • Strong project management skills, including critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment with occasionally changing priorities
  • Comfort working with and communicating across various teams and levels of seniority, including effective challenge and independent thinking 
  • Curiosity, comfort asking questions and challenging the status quo

Pay Range: $102,301 - $184,500 

 

Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees.  In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.  Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
