We’re excited to welcome a Senior Application Software Developer to our Group Protection Solutions team at Lincoln Financial Group!

In this role, you’ll be a key contributor to an agile team, designing and implementing cutting-edge technical and business solutions that drive modernization and efficiency across our Claims and Group Protection businesses. 

You’ll work on a diverse range of platforms—from cloud-native applications to on-prem integrations—collaborating closely with business partners and product owners to deliver customer-centric solutions that create real business value. If you're passionate about full-stack development, agile methodologies, and continuous improvement, this is the opportunity for you. 

What you'll be doing

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable web applications and services across the full technology stack.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with strategic goals and technical roadmaps. 
  • Champion DevOps and Agile best practices, fostering a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous learning. 
  • Utilize tools such as Atlassian (JIRA, Confluence) to drive collaboration and operational excellence. 
  • Ensure high-quality code through rigorous testing, monitoring, and support practices. 
  • Build and integrate APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures. 
  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to team growth and technical excellence. 

What we’re looking for

Must-Haves: 

  • 5+ years of professional experience in Java-based application development along with Spring and RESTful web services 
  • Proven experience with service-oriented design & development, microservice & event-based architecture 
  • Experience developing and supporting solutions on prem, cloud platforms such as AWS & hybrid 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced with experience in an agile Dev/Ops environment. 
  • Proficiency automated test case development and tooling, Junit, Atlassian suite, Tomcat, New Relic, Splunk, Universal Automation Center, Gitlab and CI/CD pipelines 
  • Highly focused on continuous improvement and raising the bar -- detailed orientated with a passion to deliver high quality software for our business partners and customers 

Nice to Haves: 

  • Experience with databases such as Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, Sybase, and DynamoDB. 
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies such as React, Node.js and Javascript 
  • Experience with JPA, JUnit, SQL, Webflux, Cloud Formation Templates 
  • BPM solution experience – specifically Appian and Chorus 
  • Experience in Group Benefits or Insurance industry 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile environment.

The pay range for this position is $93,300 - $169,700 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees.  In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.  Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
