The Role

 

This Sr. Financial Analyst (Sr Level) will be a member of the Financial Planning and Analysis team, specifically working on and supporting the Consolidated Analysis and Planning Team.  S/he will prepare, analyze, and report in support of Lincoln Financial Group's (LFG) strategic and financial planning processes for its businesses and various functional departments.  This role offers high visibility working directly with Senior Leadership and has room for growth in a dynamic team with a great culture.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Assists in the coordination of LFG’s annual planning processes (Financial Plan, Sales Plan, and Expense budget) and periodic re-forecasts efforts
  • Supports the annual statutory and capital plan including development of statutory capital models and partnership with lines of business to develop a comprehensive capital plan
  • Leads continued development of GAAP and Statutory Analysis, Forecasting, and Modeling tools.
  • Analyze and communicate complex Statutory earnings and capital results to management on a quarterly basis.
  • Prepares frequent ad-hoc financial analysis and financial modeling that supports the corporation’s need to increasingly understand performance/profitability in various capacities
  • Prepares consolidated STAT and GAAP earnings presentations for senior management in conjunction with business partners
  • Provides subject matter expertise to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Identifies and directs strategic process improvements that significantly improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) or responsibility, assess the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.
  • Prepares, analyzes and presents on complex financial information for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Champions and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.

 

Education & Experience

 

  • Undergraduate degree and 5+ years of comparable work experience required
  • 5-7+ years of experience in Financial Analysis or comparable fields
  • Relevant Insurance industry experience (a plus)
  • Experience with Essbase, Hyperion and Business Objects a plus
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to adapt the communication of complex items to suit different audiences
  • Confident and comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and multi-task while maintaining strict attention to detail
  • Strong project management skills including critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrates ability to identify and recommend processes improvements
  • Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop collaborative approaches
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
