The Role at a Glance
As part of the Competitive Intelligence team within Investor Relations, you will deliver insight into peer financial performance, areas of strategic emphasis, transaction activity, and competitive positioning. You will analyze peer results, distill analyst commentary, monitor market events, and deliver concise, data driven insights to stakeholders across the enterprise. Success in this role requires a corporate finance background, strong financial modeling skills, and an ability to turn data into a succinct narrative. You will collaborate with business unit strategy leaders across Life, Annuities, Retirement Plan Services, and Group Protection to craft clear messaging derived from enterprise-wide competitive insights.
What you'll be doing
Peer Financial Analysis & Benchmarking:
• Leading earnings call coverage and producing concise summaries of financial performance, guidance, and analyst Q&A themes.
• Delivering rapid debriefs of peer earnings calls with an emphasis on extracting key metrics to evaluate Lincoln’s performance and that of its businesses relative to peers.
• Tracking historical and forward-looking valuation multiples, leveraging analyst models and peer benchmarking to explain movements and derive insights.
• Identifying and analyzing trends in competitor actions and interpreting competitors’ motives and strategies.
• Conducting rigorous research and providing subject matter expertise on financial results and strategic initiatives across the competitive landscape to deliver thought leadership content.
• Proactively identifying and closing gaps in data, coverage, and methodology, leveraging the team’s tools and data sources to validate results and strengthen conclusions.
Market Intelligence & Event Monitoring:
• Producing bi-weekly market intelligence briefings for stakeholders across the enterprise.
• Monitoring market events that may impact the competitive landscape, including reinsurance transactions, capital markets activity, and regulatory developments, and articulating the implications for Lincoln.
• Distilling themes and sentiment from company disclosures and analyst research, with a focus on operating developments and capital allocation.
• Establishing and maintaining alerts for major peer news and disclosures, analyzing emerging trends, and delivering timely, executive ready insights to senior leadership.
Collaborative Messaging:
• Contributing competitive context for Board and leadership materials and translating competitive insights into clear messaging and talking points.
• Collaborating with Market Insights, Product, Finance, and business unit leaders to identify and communicate critical trends.
• Serving as a subject matter expert to internal and external stakeholders regarding a broad variety of competitive insights.
• Building and maintaining relationships to sustain an advanced understanding of Lincoln’s strategy and performance relative to peers.
Analytics & Process Improvement:
• Enhancing automated reporting using tools such as FactSet and Visible Alpha.
• Evaluating and embracing new resources to expand analytics, standardize workflows, and accelerate insight delivery.
• Supporting change management and enterprise initiatives by building a feedback loop to capture insights and enhance deliverables.
What we’re looking for
• Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics (Required)
• 5 – 7+ Years experience in insurance industry or similar role. (Required)

The pay range for this position is $93,300 - $169,700 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
