The Role at a Glance
The Sr. Data Steward – Team Lead will serve as a manager and mentor to the Data Governance team and provide guidance and direction on all data governance activities. This position will also serve as the point of contact for data governance activities including the communication of Data Governance Council decisions.
What you'll be doing
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of Data Stewards (3 employees), fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and high performance. This includes proactively addressing performance issues and support team members through feedback, coaching, and clear development plans.
- Liaison between business leads, subject matter experts, IT, and Data Governance Council to implement and maintain a high-quality Data Governance program.
- Improves the quality and reliability of data through discovery, definition, and process improvements.
- Manages, designs, and develops data definition, production, usage, classification, and compliance rules across the enterprise.
- Identifies, initiates, and develops processes/projects to implement the Data Governance vision and framework while remaining aligned with overall business objectives.
- Collaborates with data owners and data custodians to identify and resolve complex data governance issues in a timely and collaborative manner.
- Facilitates resolutions of data definition, production, and usage issues across multiple business units.
- Leads the community of data users and analysts, manages meetings and agendas, facilitates workshops, and provides communication of issues.
- Serves as a resource to internal stakeholders on complex Data Governance solutions which optimize client requirements and achieve desired business results.
- Escalates highly complex issues to management/Data Governance Council when necessary.
What we’re looking for
Must-Haves
- 5 - 7+ Years experience in data governance role or implementing/overseeing data warehouses
- Demonstrated ability to balance managing team as outlined above and performing hands-on project and issue remediation efforts as needed.
- Demonstrated experience managing small teams, with a track record of developing talent and addressing performance challenges.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- Familiarity with ETL processes, data warehousing principles, and finance data (securities accounting/investment data preferred).
- Knowledge of SQL and Business Intelligence reporting tools such as AWS Athena, SAP BusinessObjects, and data visualization tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly across all levels of the organization.
- Analytical skills and close attention to detail is necessary
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-changing environment.

The pay range for this position is $93,300 - $169,700 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
