The Role at a Glance

We are excited to be hiring a dynamic Sr Operational Risk Consultant to our Life and MG Underwriting and New Business Operational Risk Team. In this role, you will be evaluating and remediating operational risks related to Market Conduct Exams and developing innovation based on findings for the Lincoln’s Life and MG New Business and Underwriting business.  You will also have exposure to the business, which presents a unique opportunity to balance mitigating risk with business growth.

What you'll be doing

•    Conducting workflow risk reviews and developing/administering remediation plans in response to potential Market Conduct findings
•    Researching vulnerabilities in processes and procedures to identify risks and exposure
•    Intermediary for the Life Underwriting & New Business team with legal and compliance enterprise business partners
•    Communicating and educating risks with internal customers
•    Representing operational risk during the development of strategic initiatives
•    Advising and consulting on various risk discussions focused on area of expertise
•    Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends, assesses the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions
•    Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s)
•    Identifies and directs the implementation of process improvements that significantly improve risk results across the team, department and/or business unit
•    Provides subject matter expertise to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects
•    Provides direction on complex assignments, projects, and/or initiatives to build and enhance the capability of their assigned area(s)

What we’re looking for

Must-haves:
·    5 – 7+ years of experience in Operational Risk as it relates to the specifics of this position
·    4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)
·    Experience in the Life Insurance Industry
·    Enjoys working independently and highly organized
·    Demonstrated ability to identify and recommend processes improvements
·    Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches
·    Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative style
·    Demonstrates strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines
·    Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills
·    Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
·    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Nice-to-haves:  
•    Demonstrated compliance and/or legal experience
•    Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma Certification

The pay range for this position is $93,300 - $169,700 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees.  In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.  Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
