The Role at a Glance

As the Supplemental Health Product Innovation Lead, Product Development, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the direction, success, and market relevance of Lincoln’s Supplemental Health product portfolio. You will be responsible for leading product offering optimization of the end-to-end journey from quote to claim to drive sustainable, profitable growth within our Group Protection products. You will have a deep understanding of the Supplemental health market, industry and regulatory environment while building close relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (including senior leaders and define the business strategy for their products. 

What you'll be doing

•    Own product development and management process throughout the product lifecycle, including product research, development, roadmap planning, launch and on-going management
•    Partner with the Portfolio Enablement, IT and other business operational areas to promote high quality development & implementation of technology solutions to develop and manage products & services that meet market & profit expectations
•    Collaborate with key stakeholders and/or P&L management to gather and support prioritization of product requirements, providing recommendations on larger strategic initiatives
•    Participate in the development of sales strategies to support and stimulate sales among the field fore and alternative distribution channels
•    Balances stakeholder priorities and development team(s) capacity to aid in achievable roadmap and delivery targets; including prioritization of product backlog
•    Continuously monitor industry trends, regulatory environment, and competitive position to proactively inform prudent business decisions
•    Create and deliver QBRs including P&L oversight, recommending new ideas for growth, understanding competitive actions and market trends working with assigned lines of business to translate research results into clear business strategies
•    Product training content development SME, maintain product documentation to enable business partners to create functional product training
•    Write product specs and coordinate with Compliance for filings and approvals 
•    Assess value, develop case, and priorities work to ensure proper linkage with the product strategy 
•    Helps prioritize and sequence product backlog according to business value
•    Consult with business partners on product related questions and nuances

What we’re looking for

Must-haves:
•    5-7+ Years of experience with Group Supplemental health products, including product management or product development experience (e.g., deep understanding of product development, plan design analysis, process and funding as it relates to plan benefit offerings
•    Solid knowledge of the business function/industry trends specifically Supplemental Health Industry trends, including regulatory requirements
•    Strong communication skills with ability to communicate complex messages and trade-offs and tell a compelling story
•    Ability to influence a diverse group of stakeholders and strong leadership skills
•    Strong problem solver with ability to lead the team to push the solution and progress
•    Proven success of end-to-end product development
•    Individual contributor who inspires confidence and generates collaboration amongst team members and senior stakeholders
•    Comfortable making decisions in ambiguity with continuous learning mindset in order to improve over each interaction
•    Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority tasks simultaneously in a dynamic, fast-paced setting, demonstrating agility, focus and efficiency under pressure  
•    4 Year/bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)

 

Nice to have:
•    Detailed understanding of contract drafting process related to drafting or reviewing state filed forms
•    Industry engagement through ACLI, LIMRA , and NASBI

The pay range for this position is $93,300 - $169,700 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees.  In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.  Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
